Important Dates

The Commission has clearly stated that candidates must reconcile their fee payment with the bank by 17 August 2026, or within 7 days after that at the latest, that is by 24 August 2026. Eligibility to Apply: PET-2025 Score Card Required

This is a main examination, not a fresh open recruitment. Only those candidates who hold the required essential eligibility for the advertised posts and who appeared in the Preliminary Eligibility Test 2025 can apply online. Shortlisting for the main exam is done post-wise and category-wise, based on the normalized PET-2025 score, considering 15 times the number of vacancies along with all candidates scoring at or above the final normalized cut-off (up to two decimal places). Candidates whose absolute or normalized PET score is zero or negative will not be shortlisted for the main exam.

Candidates whose PET-2025 result is marked Under Investigation or Provisional are being permitted to apply on a provisional basis while the Commission's review of their case is pending; their final shortlisting and selection will remain subject to the outcome of that review.

Application Fee

Dependants of freedom fighters, ex-servicemen, women, persons with disabilities, and outstanding sportspersons pay fee according to their original base category (unreserved, OBC, SC, or ST) as listed above. The separate written exam fee will be charged only from candidates who get shortlisted for the main exam, and it must be paid before the exam admit card can be downloaded. Fee can be paid online through credit card, debit card, internet banking, UPI, or the SBI e-challan; no other mode of payment is permitted.

Eligibility Criteria

Scientific Assistant (General and Special Selection)

Candidates need a B.Sc degree in one of the following domains, combined with Forensic Science, from a recognized university or institution:

• Biology domain: B.Sc with specialization in Biology/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Genetics/Cell Biology/Microbiology, alongside Forensic Science
• Physical science domain: B.Sc with specialization in Physics/Nuclear Science/Instrumentation/Electronics, alongside Forensic Science, or a B.Tech in Instrumentation/Electrical and Electronics Engineering/Civil and Mechanical Engineering
• Chemistry domain: B.Sc with specialization in Chemistry/Biochemistry, alongside Forensic Science
• Computer Science domain: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or an 'A' level diploma from NIELIT

Preferential qualification: Among otherwise equal candidates, preference in direct recruitment goes to those with an M.Sc in the relevant subject (Biology/Physical Science/Chemistry domain), a higher qualification in Computer Science (for the computer science domain), a minimum two years of service in the Territorial Army, or a National Cadet Corps 'B' certificate.

Lab Assistant (General and Special Selection)

The essential qualification mirrors that of Scientific Assistant, requiring a B.Sc in the Biology, Physical Science, Chemistry, or Computer Science domain combined with Forensic Science from a recognized university or institution, along with the same preferential qualifications for otherwise equal candidates.

Age Limit

For both Scientific Assistant and Lab Assistant posts, a candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have crossed 40 years as on 1 July of the calendar year in which the vacancies were notified. Higher upper age limit relaxation applies for SC, ST candidates and other notified categories, to the extent specified by the state government from time to time.

Selection Process

Selection to these posts is based purely on a written examination, in line with the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Rank Direct Recruitment (Interview Discontinued) Rules, 2017, and the new application and two-tier examination procedure adopted vide government order dated 20 November 2020. Under this system, only candidates who appeared in the Commission's Preliminary Eligibility Test can apply for the corresponding main examination, which is conducted as per the Uttar Pradesh Forensic Science Laboratory Non-Gazetted (Technical) Service Rules, 2016.

Exam Pattern

The written examination consists of a single paper with 100 objective, multiple-choice questions carrying 100 marks, to be attempted in 2 hours. Each question carries one mark, and each wrong answer attracts a negative marking of one-fourth (25 percent) of the marks assigned to that question.

Mechanics, heat and thermodynamics, waves and sound, optics, electricity and magnetism, electronics, modern physics, radiation and nuclear physics, applied physics in forensics, and experimental physics with instrumentation.

Part 1: Chemistry

Physical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, forensic and applied chemistry, biochemistry, environmental chemistry, and instrumentation.

Part 1: Biology

Cell biology, genetics, molecular biology and biotechnology, human anatomy and physiology, blood and serology, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, forensic biology, and ecology and environment.

Part 1: Mathematics

Arithmetic, algebra, geometry and mensuration, trigonometry, statistics, analytical and logical reasoning, and advanced topics like permutation-combination, probability, and basic calculus.

Part 1: Forensic Science

General forensic science, crime scene investigation, physical and biological evidence, forensic biology and toxicology, forensic chemistry, questioned documents, ballistics and physics, and cyber and digital forensics.

Part 2: Computer and Information Technology

History and applications of computers, the internet and World Wide Web, hardware and software, input-output devices, internet protocol and IP addresses, IT gadgets, email creation and use, operation of printers, tablets and mobiles, key features of MS-Word and MS-Excel, operating systems, social networking, e-governance, digital financial tools, future skills, cyber security, and current technological developments such as artificial intelligence, big data, deep learning, machine learning, and the Internet of Things.

Part 3: Uttar Pradesh General Knowledge

History, culture, art, architecture, festivals, folk dances, literature, regional languages, heritage, social customs and tourism, geography and environment, natural resources, climate, soil, forests, wildlife, mines and minerals, economy, agriculture, industry, business and employment, polity and administration, and current events related to Uttar Pradesh.

Shortlisting for the Main Exam

Shortlisting of candidates for this written exam is based on the normalized PET-2025 score, considering candidates equal to 15 times the vacancies notified in each category, along with all candidates scoring at or above the final normalized cut-off up to two decimal places. If the main exam itself is conducted across more than one shift or day, comparative evaluation of candidates will follow the score normalization procedure published by the Commission on 22 May 2019.

How to Apply

2. Log in using authentication through your PET-2025 registration number, verified with the OTP sent to your registered mobile number or email.
3. Check your personal details, category, and other information carried forward from your PET-2025 application, then select the post or posts you wish to apply for.
4. Enter your educational qualification details for the selected post, including board or university name, year of passing, and certificate details, then submit the verification code to generate your application form.
5. Review your photo and signature carried forward from PET-2025, mark your post preference order, and complete the declaration section by ticking all checkboxes.
6. Pay the online processing fee through credit card, debit card, internet banking, UPI, or SBI e-challan, and ensure the payment is reconciled with your application.
7. Download and print your final application form only after the fee is successfully paid and reconciled, and keep a copy safely for future reference.

Candidates should note that the entire application process must be completed in a single sitting once started, and no correction is possible after the online application is finally submitted, except through the separate correction window open until 24 August 2026 for a limited set of fields.

What Can Be Corrected Later

Once the application is finally submitted, a candidate can log in again using their PET-2025 registration number and OTP to modify only the following details, up to 24 August 2026: correspondence address, other personal details such as EWS and horizontal reservation category (dependent of freedom fighter, PwBD, ex-servicemen, gender, outstanding sportsperson), details of essential or preferential qualification entered in the application, and marital status. No other field can be amended after final submission.

• Only one application can be submitted for the advertised posts; a candidate who submits multiple applications will have only the last submitted form accepted, and the rest will be rejected.
