Application Fee

Vacancy Details

The 600 Medical Officer posts are distributed across categories as follows.

Within these posts, 4 percent (24 posts in this new recruitment, 13 backlog posts, 37 in total) are reserved for persons with benchmark disabilities, and a 5 percent horizontal reservation applies for Ex-servicemen candidates within each category, as shown below.

Among the posts reserved for women, 8 percent are earmarked for widows and 2 percent for divorced or deserted women. If suitable widow or divorced women candidates are not available, these posts will be filled from general women candidates of the same category, as per the notification dated 22 December 2015. The recruiting authority may reduce or increase the number of vacancies mentioned above if required.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold an MBBS degree. As per Karmik Vibhag notification F-03(7)DOP/A-II/97 dated 17 September 1999, having a valid Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC) registration by the date of the written examination is mandatory. Candidates should also have practical knowledge of Hindi written in the Devanagari script and knowledge of the culture of Rajasthan.

Foreign Medical Graduates

Indian citizens or overseas citizens of India who obtained their primary medical qualification from medical colleges outside India must have qualified the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (Screening Test) as per the Screening Test Regulations 2002, conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences. They must also obtain a Permanent Registration Certificate from the Rajasthan Medical Council on or before the date of the MODRE-2026 examination and upload it with their application.

Persons With Disabilities

For the Medical Officer post, the benchmark disability categories considered suitable are One Arm, One Leg, Both Legs, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victims, Specific Learning Disability, and Multiple Disabilities involving these categories. The reservation for persons with disabilities is horizontal in nature, meaning the candidate will be adjusted within the category (SC, ST, BC, or General) that they belong to. Candidates claiming this benefit must submit a certificate from a competent medical officer, in the prescribed format, clearly mentioning the identified category. Candidates with disability certificates will be issued the appointment letter only after examination by a medical board.

Age Limit

Candidates must be a minimum of 22 years and a maximum of 45 years of age, with age calculated as on 1 January 2027. This date was corrected from the originally notified 1 January 2026 through the department's corrigendum dated 13 August 2026.

Upper Age Relaxation

• Under Rule 10 of the Rajasthan Medical and Health Service Rules 1963, male candidates of Rajasthan belonging to SC, ST, BC, MBC or EWS categories get 5 years of relaxation in the upper age limit.
• Female candidates of Rajasthan belonging to SC, ST, BC, MBC or EWS categories get 10 years of relaxation.
• Female candidates of the general category get 5 years of relaxation.
• Ex-servicemen candidates get a maximum age limit of 50 years, as per Karmik department circular P.5(18)Karmik/K-2/84 Part II dated 12 December 2022 and 27 February 2023.
• Widow and divorced or deserted women candidates have no upper age limit.
• Since the department last advertised this post through RUHS in 2024, relaxation as per Karmik department notification dated 23 September 2008 will also be applicable.

Candidates who are not bonafide residents of Rajasthan will be treated as Unreserved (UR) and will not get any reservation benefit related to age, category or fee.

Pay Scale

The Medical Officer (Medical) post carries Pay Level 14 of the 15600-39100 pay matrix. During the one year probation period, candidates will presently draw a basic amount of Rs 39,300 per month, along with medical service allowance of Rs 17,400 per month, taking the total monthly payment to Rs 56,700.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

Selection to the post of Medical Officer will be based on performance in the MODRE-2026 examination, followed by document verification by the recruiting authority.

• The examination will be conducted offline in OMR based mode.
• The question paper will have 100 multiple choice questions of one mark each, totalling 100 marks.
• Candidates will get 2 hours (120 minutes) to attempt the paper.
• There is no negative marking.
• The question paper will be set only in the English language.
• The exam centre will preferably be in Jaipur, though RUHS reserves the right to add other cities or centres.
• The syllabus covers all subjects studied during the four and a half year MBBS curriculum as prescribed by the National Medical Commission or the competent authority.

Appearing in the examination does not by itself confer eligibility. Final eligibility will be decided only after verification of documents and fulfilment of all criteria by the committee constituted under Rule 19 of the Rajasthan Medical and Health Service Rules 1963.

How to Apply

The RUHS Medical Officer online form must be filled in three stages on the official RUHS website.

1. Visit the official RUHS website and open the MODRE-2026 recruitment notification section.
2. Complete Stage 1, the online registration, carefully, since it cannot be edited once submitted.
3. Complete Stage 2 by filling in personal details, qualification, employment history and responsible officer information, and upload the required documents.
4. Take a printout of the filled Stage 2 form and check every detail carefully before proceeding, since edits are allowed only until fee payment.
5. Complete Stage 3 by paying the examination fee online through the payment gateway and submitting the application form finally.
6. Note down the registration ID and password, and keep them safe for future reference.
7. Download the admit card from the RUHS website once it is released, and if the permanent RMC registration was not uploaded earlier, upload it within two days after the examination.

Hand written, typed, photostat copies, printed applications or screen printouts of the form will not be entertained under any circumstances.

General Rules

• A candidate may submit only one application for MODRE-2026; multiple applications from the same candidate may lead to cancellation of candidature.
• Candidates whose date of marriage falls after 1 June 2002 and who have more than two children are not eligible for appointment, as per Karmik department notification F-07(1)DOP/A-II/1995(10/03) dated 8 April 2003.
• Married applicants must submit marriage registration information as required by Karmik (K-2) department circular dated 30 June 2006.
• Candidates with more than one spouse are not eligible for this recruitment.
• Candidates who took or gave dowry at the time of their marriage are not eligible for this recruitment.
• Before joining, selected candidates must submit a health certificate and a police character verification report from the concerned Superintendent of Police.
• Candidates must carry a printed admit card with photo pasted on it, along with an original valid photo ID, to the examination centre; delayed entry is not permitted under any circumstances.
• Electronic devices, textual material, ornaments, wallets, bags and food or water items are not allowed inside the examination centre, and all candidates will undergo compulsory frisking.
• Any dispute related to this recruitment or examination falls under the jurisdiction of the Hon'ble Rajasthan High Court.
