About NTPC Assistant Officer Recruitment 2026

NTPC is commensurate with the country's growth challenges and has embarked upon an ambitious plan to take its installed capacity, currently more than 91 GW, to 149 GW by 2032. To support its expanding projects and stations, NTPC is looking for Executives in Corporate Communication, and the current notification covers the post of Assistant Officer (Corporate Communication) with 15 vacancies.

Candidates belonging to the General, EWS and OBC categories are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs 500. SC, ST, PwBD and XSM category candidates, as well as female candidates, need not pay the application fee.

Vacancy Details

The 15 vacancies for Assistant Officer (Corporate Communication) are distributed across categories as follows. Reservation for PwBD candidates is applicable as per government guidelines, and the projected vacancies indicated may increase or decrease at the discretion of NTPC management.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must hold a full-time Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with at least 60 percent marks from a recognized university or institute, along with a full-time two-year Post Graduate Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication, Journalism, Advertising and Communication, or Public Relations, or a combination of these subjects, also with at least 60 percent marks. Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply, and all qualifications must be from universities or institutions recognized and approved in India.

Where a vacancy is identified for the SC, ST or PwBD category, candidates from those categories with at least 55 percent marks in the required qualification are eligible to apply.

Age Limit

The upper age limit is 29 years, calculated as on the last date for receipt of the online application. Age relaxation is applicable as follows, where a vacancy is identified for the respective category:

• SC/ST categories: 5 years
• OBC categories: 3 years
• PwBD categories: 10 years
• Ex-servicemen: as per government guidelines

Pay Scale

The post of Assistant Officer (Corporate Communication) carries the E0 grade under the IDA pay scale of Rs 30,000 to Rs 1,20,000 per month.

Selection Process

NTPC reserves the right to conduct a multi-stage selection process, which may comprise application shortlisting or screening based on qualification and percentage of marks, a written or computer-based test, and a personal interview, or a combination of these, and the management may also raise the minimum eligibility standards if required.

Where selection is through a written or computer-based test and interview, it will be based on 85 percent weightage for the online written test and 15 percent weightage for the interview. Candidates must qualify separately in both the written test and the interview. The online written test itself has two parts:

• Subject Knowledge Test (SKT)
• Executive Aptitude Test (EAT)

Candidates are required to qualify in both sections separately. They must also indicate their choice of test centres at the time of online application, and no change in test centre will be considered afterward, though NTPC reserves the right to cancel, add or change any centre.

Health and Medical Standards

Before joining, selected candidates will have to undergo a medical examination by the NTPC Medical Board or Officer, whose decision will be final and binding.
