HPSC FSO Vacancy Details 2026

Out of the 45 posts, the category-wise break-up notified by the Commission is as follows. The Commission has clarified that one SC post is included to cover a previous shortfall in that category.

Two additional horizontal reservations apply within these 45 posts: 2 posts for Ex-Servicemen (General category) and 2 posts for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, split as 1 post for Low Vision (LV) candidates and 1 post for Deaf or Hard of Hearing (D, HH) candidates. The Commission has noted that the number of posts may increase or decrease as per Government requirements.

Application Fee

The fee must be paid online through Net Banking, Debit Card, or Credit Card by 05:00 PM on the closing date. Fees once paid are non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against any other examination.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should hold a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in one of the following disciplines from a recognised university or institution:

• Food Technology (including Food Engineering, Food Processing and Preservation, Food Biotechnology, and related fields), or
• Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, or Oil Technology, or a discipline covered under Agricultural Science such as Agriculture, Agriculture Engineering, Fisheries, or Horticulture, or
• Veterinary Sciences, Bio-Chemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry, or medicine from a recognised university, or
• A recognised Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery under a system such as Allopathy, Dental, Homeopathic, Unani, Siddha, Ayurvedic, or Sowa Rigpa medicine, or any other qualification notified by the Food Authority with Central Government approval.

In addition, candidates must have completed training as specified by the Food Authority in a recognised institute, though this training will be provided after appointment. Candidates must also have studied Hindi or Sanskrit as a subject in Matriculation, or Hindi as a subject in Higher Education. As per Food Safety and Standard Rules, 2011, a person with any financial interest in the manufacture, import, or sale of food articles cannot be appointed as Food Safety Officer.

Age Limit

Candidates should not be less than 18 years and not more than 42 years of age as on the closing date, i.e. 19.10.2026. Age relaxation is available for the following categories, as per Government Instructions dated 25.03.2022:

The upper age limit for any category except Ex-servicemen, even after relaxation, cannot exceed 52 years. Relaxation for DSC, OSC, BC-A, BC-B, and ESM candidates applies only where posts are reserved for that category.

Pay Scale

Selected candidates will draw the pay scale of 9300-34800 plus 4200 Grade Pay, placed at FPL-6 (Cell-1) with a starting basic pay of Rs 35,400 per month.

Selection Process

The Commission generally follows a three-stage recruitment process: a Screening Test, followed by a Subject Knowledge Test and an Interview. If the number of applications received is very large, the Commission may shortlist candidates for the next stage using one or more of the following criteria instead of, or in addition to, a screening test:

• Percentage of marks in the minimum prescribed educational qualification
• Percentage of marks with weightage across different qualifications
• Desirable qualifications, where more than one is prescribed
• Higher educational qualifications than the minimum required
• Higher or additional relevant experience

Where a Screening Test using OMR sheets is held, candidates must correctly darken their Name, Roll Number, and Booklet Series details, as there is no provision for manual checking. No request for re-checking or re-evaluation of the Screening Test or Subject Knowledge Test answer sheets will be entertained. The decision of the Commission on the exact pattern of examination is final.

• DSC or OSC certificate of Haryana, where claimed
