Read This First: The Earlier Notice Is Cancelled
A short letter from the Chairman, Railway Recruitment Cell, explains why this notice exists. The requisition was partially changed after Notice No. 04/2026 had already gone up on the RRC website. RRC therefore cancelled the earlier notice and published the revised one on 21 October 2026.
If you saved the earlier PDF or noted trade-wise slots from it, discard them. Only the revised notice is valid, and its slot tables are the ones that count.

Who Can Apply
The notice is aimed at ITI holders. A candidate must have passed Class 10 or its equivalent (under the 10+2 system) with at least 50 percent marks in aggregate, with no rounding off, from a recognized board. In addition, the candidate must hold a National Trade Certificate in the notified trade, issued by NCVT or SCVT.
The qualifications must be in hand on the date of submitting the application. Those still waiting for their final exam results are told not to apply.
Age Limit as on 22.11.2026
A candidate should have completed 15 years of age and should not have completed 24 years. The upper age limit is relaxed as follows.
| Category | Relaxation in Upper Age |
|---|---|

| Ex-servicemen | Up to 10 additional years, limited to service rendered in the Defence Forces plus 3 years, provided at least 6 months of continuous service |

Application Fee
| Category | Fee (Non-Refundable) |
|---|---|
| All candidates except those listed below | Rs 100 |
| SC, ST, PwBD and women | Nil |
The fee is paid online. After the form is complete, you are sent to a payment gateway, and once payment succeeds you return to the RRC Jaipur site to finish the process and download the form. Debit card, credit card and net banking can be used, and any transaction charges are borne by the candidate. If money is deducted but the form cannot be downloaded, use the Verify Payment button to recheck with the gateway.
Pick Your Unit Carefully
This is a centralized notification with RRC Jaipur acting as the nodal agency for taking applications and preparing merit lists. You can choose only one unit, and the choices are:
- Divisional Railway Manager's Office, Ajmer
- Divisional Railway Manager's Office, Bikaner
- Divisional Railway Manager's Office, Jaipur
- Divisional Railway Manager's Office, Jodhpur
- B.T.C. Carriage, Ajmer
- B.T.C. Loco, Ajmer
- Carriage Workshop, Bikaner
- Carriage Workshop, Jodhpur
The notice warns that selecting a unit with no slot for your ITI trade can make the application meaningless, because nothing can be edited after final submission. Applying twice is no escape either: multiple applications, or applications with differing name, father's name, community, photo, qualification, email or mobile number, are all summarily rejected. Once engaged, a request to change division, unit or trade will not be considered.
Unit-Wise Training Slots
The opening paragraph of the notice mentions 2008 slots, while each unit table prints its own totals, shown below. Slots are provisional and may increase or decrease depending on the administration's needs at the time of finalizing selection. PwBD and ex-servicemen slots are included within these totals and are not additional.

The PDF also gives a category-wise split (UR, OBC, SC, ST, EWS) and PwBD and ex-servicemen slots for every trade, so check the official notice for the exact row that matches your trade. If SC or ST slots cannot be filled, they may pass to ST or SC candidates and then to others, and unfilled OBC or EWS slots may go to the unreserved category.
How the Merit List Is Made
There is no exam in this process as described in the notice. RRC prepares a merit list from all applicants using the percentage of marks in matriculation (with the 50 percent aggregate minimum) together with the ITI marks in the trade for which apprenticeship is sought. The panel is based on the simple average of the two.
- Matriculation percentage counts marks in all subjects, not a single subject or a group of subjects.
- ITI percentage is taken from the marks printed on the provisional or final certificate.
- If two candidates have equal marks, the older candidate is preferred. If birth dates are also equal, the one who passed matriculation earlier comes first.
- The final merit list is prepared division/unit-wise, trade-wise and community-wise, equal to the number of slots, in descending order of percentage.
No centralized merit list is formed. After the lists are ready they are sent to the respective divisions or units, and document verification and medical examination are held there based on merit, trade and vacancy.
Reservation Certificates You Will Need
Reservation benefits are given only against the right certificate at the time of document verification.
- SC/ST: Caste certificate in the Central Government format (Annexure-I).
- OBC: Caste certificate and Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026 in the Central Government format (Annexure-II), plus the OBC declaration (Annexure-IIA).
- EWS: EWS certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure-III).
- Ex-servicemen and Armed Forces families: Discharge certificate, or for children, the discharge or serving certificate of the parent.
- PwBD: Disability certificate from a competent authority, such as a medical board constituted by the Central or State Government (Annexure-V(A), V(B), V(C) and V(D)).
Reservation for ex-servicemen covers, in order, children of deceased or disabled ex-servicemen (including those killed or disabled in peacetime), children of ex-servicemen, children of serving jawans, children of serving officers, and ex-servicemen. A selected ex-serviceman is placed in the appropriate UR, SC, ST or OBC category.
Disability and Medical Standards
Only PwBD candidates who fit the categories in the notice should apply under that quota. Locomotor disability or cerebral palsy must be at least 40 percent, and hearing impairment means a loss of 60 decibels or more in the better ear. Candidates with other benchmark disabilities should not apply as PwBD and will not get those concessions. Persons with multiple disabilities are treated as MD. For locomotor disability and low vision, the notice lists the kind of impairment that can be accommodated trade by trade, such as Diesel Mechanic, Electrician, Fitter, Welder and Carpenter, so read that table before applying under PwBD.
Every selected candidate must produce a medical certificate in Annexure-IV format, signed by a Government-authorized gazetted doctor not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of a Central or State hospital. Key standards include:
- Minimum height 137 cm, minimum weight 25.4 kg and chest expansion of at least 3.8 cm, with a relaxation if a gazetted Assistant Surgeon certifies fitness for the trade.
- Vision in one eye is acceptable except in 17 listed trades, and colour vision is not required.
- Hearing must be good in both ears, and no hearing aid is permitted.
- Blood pressure should not exceed 140 systolic and 85 diastolic, and a systolic reading below 100 leads to rejection.
- No evidence of tuberculosis in any form, contagious disease, serious skeletal deformity, or disease of the nervous system.
How to Apply
Applications are accepted online only, through the RRC Jaipur website, where detailed instructions will be available. The steps below follow the notice.
- Open the official RRC Jaipur website once the online application window starts on 23 October 2026 and read the detailed instructions given there.
- Check your ITI trade against the slot tables and choose one division or unit that has a training slot for that trade.
- Register with your personal details exactly as they appear in your matriculation certificate, including your name, father's name and date of birth, and enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number, an active mobile number and a valid email ID.
- Fill in your educational and trade details, then upload your colour photograph and signature in the prescribed size and format.
- Note down the Registration Number issued at the time of submission and keep it safe for later correspondence with RRC.
- Pay the application fee online through the payment gateway if you are not exempt, and use the Verify Payment button if the amount is deducted but the application does not download.
- Download the completed application form, keep printouts and the e-receipt for document verification, and finish all of this before 23:59 hours on 22 November 2026.
Do not leave it for the last day. The notice itself warns that heavy load or website jams near the deadline can block submission, and RRC takes no responsibility if a candidate misses the closing time for that or any other reason.
Photograph and Signature Specifications
| Item | Size | Format and File Size |
|---|---|---|
| Colour photograph | 3.5 cm x 3.5 cm | JPG/JPEG, 100 DPI, 20 KB to 70 KB |
| Signature | 3.5 cm x 2.5 cm | JPG/JPEG, 100 DPI, 20 KB to 30 KB |
The photo should be recent (not older than three months), a clear front view without cap or sunglasses. Keep two extra copies for document verification, because RRC can reject an application at any stage for an old or unclear photo.
Name Matching and Contact Details
Your name, father's name and date of birth must match the matriculation certificate exactly. A mismatch found at document verification leads to cancellation of candidature and debarment. All important messages go by email and SMS and are treated as read by the candidate, so keep both active through the whole process.
Training, Stipend and What Comes After
The training period and stipend follow the rules and directions of the Railway Board as issued from time to time, and the notice does not print a stipend amount. No hostel is provided. Before training begins, the selected candidate (or the guardian, if a minor) signs a Contract of Apprenticeship with the employer.
The notice is blunt on one point: this is training, not a job offer. It confers no right to absorption in the Railway, and no employer is obliged to offer employment at the end of the apprenticeship.
Rules That Can Cost You the Seat
- Canvassing in any form disqualifies the candidature.
- Candidates not producing original certificates, or showing any discrepancy, have their candidature cancelled.
- Fake or false certificates can lead to discharge at any stage, even after selection, without notice.
- Anyone found ineligible, even after engagement, can be dismissed without notice.
- No daily or travel allowance is paid for attending document verification.
- Do not post printouts or certificates to RRC. Candidature is judged only on the online application.
- RRC will not reply to candidates who are not selected or not called, and the Railway administration's decision on eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications and mode of selection is final.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What is the last date to apply for the NWR Act Apprentice 2026-27 recruitment?
Online applications are accepted from 23 October 2026 until 23:59 hours on 22 November 2026. No paper application needs to be posted to RRC Jaipur, and any copy received by post will not be considered.
Q2. Why was Notice No. 04/2026 issued again?
RRC Jaipur made a partial change in the requisition, so the notice published earlier was cancelled. The revised Notice No. 04/2026 dated 21.10.2026 is now the only valid notice.
Q3. Who is eligible to apply for this apprenticeship?
Candidates who have passed Class 10 or its equivalent with at least 50 percent aggregate marks and hold an NCVT or SCVT National Trade Certificate in a notified trade can apply. They must have completed 15 years of age and must not have completed 24 years as on 22 November 2026, subject to the relaxations listed in the notice.
Q4. How much is the application fee?
The fee is Rs 100 and it is non-refundable. SC, ST, PwBD and women candidates pay nothing, and payment is made online through a payment gateway.
Q5. Can I apply for more than one unit?
No. Only one division or unit can be chosen, and multiple applications with different details are rejected. No change is allowed after final submission, so check that your ITI trade has slots in the unit you pick.
Q6. How are candidates selected for the apprenticeship?
Selection is based on a merit list made from the simple average of matriculation percentage and ITI marks in the chosen trade. The notification mentions no written test, and the final lists are prepared unit-wise, trade-wise and community-wise.
Q7. Will I get a Railway job after completing the training?
No. Training in the Railway does not give any right to absorption, and the employer is not obliged to offer employment when the apprenticeship ends. The apprentice is also not obliged to accept any employment.
Q8. Is a stipend or hostel facility provided?
The training period and stipend follow the rules and directions issued by the Railway Board from time to time. No hostel accommodation is provided, so selected candidates have to arrange their own stay.
