Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects from a recognized University or Board.
  • Candidates must also hold a Diploma in Veterinary Science and Animal Health Technology of two years duration or its equivalent from any recognized university.
  • Candidates who are currently enrolled in the Diploma in Veterinary Science and Animal Health Technology, or those who have obtained the diploma with 10+2 in Biology/Maths, Physics, Chemistry and English, are also eligible to apply.
  • As per Punjab Civil Services (General and Common Conditions of Service) Rules, 1994, Rule 17, candidates must have passed Matriculation examination with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects, or any other equivalent examination in Punjabi language as specified by the Government.

Age Limit (as on 1 January 2026)

  • Minimum Age: 18 years for all categories.
  • Maximum Age for General Category: 37 years.
  • Maximum Age for SC and BC candidates of Punjab State: 42 years.
  • Maximum Age for State and Central Government Employees: 45 years.
  • Maximum Age for Physically Handicapped (PwD) candidates of Punjab: 47 years (10 years relaxation).
  • Maximum Age for Widows, Divorcees, and certain other categories of married women: 40 years as per Punjab Government instructions.

Selection Process

  • Eligible candidates will be called for an Objective Type (Multiple Choice Question) written examination.
  • The written exam will be divided into two parts — Part A and Part B.
  • Part A will consist of a Punjabi language paper of Matriculation level. This paper is qualifying in nature only, and candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks to qualify.
  • The merit list will be prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained in Part B of the written examination.
  • Part B will have negative marking. Each question carries 1 mark and 1/4 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • In case of a tie in merit, the tie-breaking order is: date of birth (older candidate given preference), then percentage in required educational qualification, then Matriculation marks.
  • Candidates shortlisted on the basis of the merit list will be called for document verification and counselling.
  • No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the written examination or attending counselling.
