GIMS Greater Noida is an autonomous institute under the Uttar Pradesh state government, established on the lines of S.G.P.G.I. Lucknow. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold either of the following:

  • B.Sc Nursing (4-year course) from an Indian Nursing Council or State Medical Faculty recognized institute or university, or B.Sc Nursing (Post Basic, 2-year course) from an Indian Nursing Council recognized institute, along with registration as Nurse and Midwife in the State or Indian Nursing Council.
  • Or, a Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) from an Indian Nursing Council recognized institute, board, or council, with registration as Nurse and Midwife, plus two years of experience in a minimum 50-bedded hospital after acquiring the above qualification.

Age Limit

Candidates must have completed 21 years of age and must not have exceeded 40 years of age as on 1 July 2026. Age relaxation applies as follows:

  • SC, ST, and OBC candidates of Uttar Pradesh: up to 5 years
  • Permanent UP government employees with at least 3 years of regular, continuous service in the relevant field: up to 5 years
  • Persons with disabilities: up to 15 years
  • Ex-servicemen: up to 3 years, subject to their service period being deducted from their actual age, and they must be discharged from the armed forces by the last date of application

Persons previously dismissed from service by the Union Government or any State Government are not eligible for appointment.

Selection Process

Final selection will be based on:

  • Merit in the Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • Biometric and document verification
  • Medical examination

The CBT will be objective type, covering questions related to nursing, with 80 percent of questions based on theoretical knowledge and 20 percent on practical knowledge.

  • The question paper will consist of 100 objective (MCQ) questions, bilingual in English and Hindi, carrying 1 mark each, for a total of 100 marks.
  • There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer; unanswered questions carry no negative marking.
  • In case of a tie in marks, the older candidate will be placed higher in the merit list.
  • Minimum qualifying marks: 40% for General, EWS and OBC candidates, and 35% for SC and ST candidates.
  • Section A covers Mental Health Nursing, Fundamentals of Nursing, Nursing Foundations, First Aid/ACLS/BCLS, Applied Microbiology and Infection Control, Child Health Nursing, Nursing Management and Leadership, Applied Sociology, Medical and Surgical Nursing, Pharmacology, and Pathology.
  • Section B covers Applied Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry, Nutrition and Dietetics, Applied Psychology, Forensic Nursing, National Health Programme Treatment Protocols, Nursing Research and Statistics, and Geriatric Nursing.
  • Section C covers Basic Sciences, Communicative English, Community Health Nursing, Environmental Hygiene, Professionalism and Ethics, Health/Nursing Informatics and Technology, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

The examination will be held in Delhi/NCR, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, and Varanasi. Candidates will indicate their preferred exam city, and the allotted centre will be mentioned on the hall ticket; no change of centre is permitted afterward.

How to Apply

The application process is divided into five parts, all of which candidates can complete in one sitting:

Only permanent residents (domicile) of Uttar Pradesh are eligible for the benefit of reservation, both vertical and horizontal. Candidates who are not original residents of Uttar Pradesh will be treated as Unreserved category candidates.

General Rules

  • Candidates must satisfy all eligibility conditions, including educational qualification and age limit, by the last date of application.
  • Only the date of birth recorded in the High School or equivalent certificate is valid for age calculation.
