The pay scale for selected candidates is Rs. 77,840 – 1,36,520/- per month along with usual dearness and other allowances as sanctioned by the Government of Odisha.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidate must be a graduate in Law (LLB) from a recognized University or Institution recognized by the Government.
  • Candidate must have at least 3 (three) years of practice as an Advocate as on 1st April 2025.
  • Experience as a Law Clerk or Research Assistant to any Judge, Judicial Officer, or Constitutional Authority in India will be counted towards the period of legal practice.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 23 years
  • Maximum Age: 42 years
  • Age is calculated as on 1st April 2025.
  • Candidate must not have been born earlier than 2nd April 1983 and not later than 1st April 2002.
  • Age relaxation of 5 years for SC, ST, SEBC, Women, and Ex-Servicemen candidates.
  • Age relaxation of 10 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
  • Age relaxation of 7 years for candidates with experience as Law Clerk or Research Assistant to a Judge or Constitutional Authority.

Other Eligibility Conditions

  • Must be a citizen of India.
  • Must be of good character and sound health.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write Odia fluently and must have passed an Odia language exam equivalent to Middle English School (Class VII) standard.
  • Government servants must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer before applying.

Candidates must choose 3 optional subjects from: (i) Law of Crime and Law of Torts, (ii) Personal Laws (Hindu Law and Mohammedan Law), (iii) Law of Property (Transfer of Property Act, Specific Relief Act, Limitation Act), (iv) Law of Contract (Indian Contract Act, Sale of Goods Act, Partnership Act, Negotiable Instruments Act), (v) Jurisprudence and The Constitution of India. Optional subjects selected at the time of application are final and no change will be allowed.

Candidates who secure at least 45% marks in aggregate and 33% in each paper in the Main Written Examination will be called for the Interview. For PwBD candidates, the qualifying marks are 40% in aggregate and 30% in each paper.

C. Interview

  • Interview carries 100 marks.
  • Candidates must score a minimum of 40% marks in the Interview to be included in the merit list.
  • Questions may cover topics from the Main Examination syllabus as well as broad national and international issues.
