  • Graduate candidates must have passed the qualifying examination in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026. This rule does not apply to ITI-passed candidates.
  • You must not have undergone, or be undergoing, training under NAPS, NATS or the PM Interns scheme at NLC India Limited or anywhere else.

Reservation

Reservation for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwBD candidates will follow the Apprentices Act. If you claim reservation, you must submit the required certificate in the prescribed Government format. An OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate must be in the prescribed format and valid from 01-04-2026. A candidate who does not submit the required certificate will be considered under the General category.

How Candidates Will Be Selected

The notification describes a merit-based selection on marks. It does not mention a written test, interview or physical test.

For Trade Apprentices

Selection is based on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying ITI examination.

For Graduate Apprentices

Selection is based on the percentage of marks in the bachelor's degree. The percentage is worked out using the method followed by the university or institution that awarded the degree. If your degree gives grades or CGPA, the conversion method of your own university applies.

Where the university has no established method, these rules apply:

  • For grades or CGPA, the equivalent percentage is the grade or CGPA multiplied by 10.
  • For semester-wise marks, the percentage is the average of the percentages across all semesters from the first year to the final year.
  • For year-wise marks, the percentage is the average of the percentages across all years from the first year to the final year.

You will also need a certificate from your university or institute stating the equivalent aggregate percentage against your CGPA or OGPA. If two or more candidates have the same percentage at the cut-off level, the older candidate gets preference based on date of birth.

What to Keep in Mind Before Applying

This is an apprenticeship, not an appointment. NLC India states clearly that finishing the training does not give any right to temporary or permanent employment in the company. Think of it as a one-year paid chance to learn on the job in a Navratna enterprise.

The notification does not mention any application fee, so none is listed here. For help with the online registration or any other question about the training, you can call 04142-215062.
