Selection process
- Only candidates who meet the eligibility criteria and complete registration are considered further.
- A category-wise merit list is prepared separately for each discipline, purely on GATE score.
- Each candidate's best GATE score, from any one eligible year, in the applied discipline is used; GATE 2024, 2025 and 2026 scores carry equal weightage.
- Tie-break order: (1) the older GATE year ranks higher; (2) if score and year both match, the older candidate ranks higher; (3) if still tied, the higher percentage/CGPA in the essential qualification ranks higher.
- Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification, in line with vacancy numbers, before any provisional appointment offer.
- Meeting the eligibility conditions does not by itself guarantee appointment.
Note: Non-appearance at document verification with original documents makes a candidate ineligible for appointment, and their candidature is rejected — no TA/DA is paid for attending.
Documents required at verification
Originals of the following are checked at document verification (held at Delhi or another approved location — no request for postponement or change of venue is entertained):
- Date of birth proof (Municipal birth certificate or Matriculation certificate)
- Matriculation and Senior Secondary certificates/marksheets
- GATE score card for 2024/2025/2026, as applicable
- Essential qualification marksheets, final/provisional degree certificate, and CGPA conversion certificate (if applicable)
- No Objection Certificate — for candidates working in Central/State Government, PSUs, aided institutions or autonomous bodies (Annexure VII)
- Age relaxation certificate for in-service candidates, if applicable (Annexure VIII)
- Ex-servicemen certificate, if applicable (Annexure IX)
- Gazette notification for change of name, if applicable
- Category certificate: SC/ST (Annexure I), OBC-NCL (Annexure II), PwBD — min. 40% disability (Annexure IV/V/VI), or EWS (Annexure III), as applicable
- Aadhaar card, for Aadhaar-based authentication
- An additional photo ID — PAN card, driving licence, EPIC/voter ID, or other government-issued ID
EWS certificates must be based on income for FY 2025-26 and valid for 2026-27. OBC (NCL) certificates must be in the Central Government format and confirm the candidate is outside the "creamy layer" — a state-list OBC certificate or one issued for educational admission is not accepted.

Frequently asked questions
What is the last date to apply?
Online applications close on 30 September 2026 at 5:30 PM. The window opened on 1 September 2026 at 10:00 AM, and 30 September 2026 also serves as the cut-off date for age, qualification and category eligibility.
How many vacancies are there and in which disciplines?
376 posts (tentative): 300 in Computer Sciences & Information Technology, 26 in Electronics and Communication Engineering, and 50 in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
Is a written test or interview held?
No. Selection is entirely on the basis of a valid GATE score (2024, 2025 or 2026) in the matching paper code, followed by document verification — there is no separate exam or interview.
What is the application fee?
SC, ST, PwBD and women candidates pay no fee. UR, OBC (NCL) and EWS candidates pay ₹800 per discipline, online only, non-refundable. Applying to multiple disciplines means paying ₹800 for each one.
What is the upper age limit?
As on 30 September 2026: 30 years (UR/EWS), 35 years (SC/ST), 33 years (OBC-NCL), and 40 years for PwBD (45 for SC/ST PwBD, 43 for OBC-NCL PwBD). Separate limits apply to in-service government candidates and ex-servicemen.

Can I edit my application after submitting it?
No. Name, category, address, mobile number and email ID cannot be changed once the application is submitted, so it should be filled in carefully the first time.
What happens if I miss document verification?
You become ineligible for provisional appointment and your candidature is rejected. No TA/DA is paid for attending, and no postponement or change of venue is allowed.
How are tied GATE scores resolved in the merit list?
First by the older GATE year; if that also matches, by the older candidate's age; if still tied, by the higher percentage/CGPA in the essential qualification.
Who do I contact for help with the online form?
