Other Important Eligibility Conditions
- Only Indian nationals are eligible.
- Candidate must have passed qualifying examination from institutions operational in Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh only.
- Candidate should not have passed qualification prior to June 2022.
- Qualification must be from a full-time regular course. Part-time, Correspondence or Distance Learning mode is not accepted.
- Candidates who have already undergone or are pursuing Apprenticeship or have job experience of 1 year or more are ineligible.
- Candidates with higher qualification over and above the prescribed qualification are not eligible.
- Rounding off of percentage is not allowed. 49.99% is treated as less than 50%.

Stipend for Graduate and Diploma Apprentices is inclusive of the Government of India share paid through DBT. Stipend for Trade Apprentices will be paid entirely by NCL. Stipend is administered based on monthly attendance.
Selection Process for NCL Apprentice 2026
- Graduate and Diploma: Merit is drawn on the basis of marks/percentage scored in the qualifying graduation or diploma examination (as declared in online application). Candidates are ranked in decreasing order of marks.
- ITI Trade: Merit is drawn on the basis of the average of passing percentage in Matriculation (10th) and the respective NTC/STC of the trade. Candidates are ranked in decreasing order of this average.
- Shortlisting: Sufficient candidates will be shortlisted for scrutiny of original documents before joining. NCL reserves the right to restrict the number called for scrutiny.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must appear with all original certificates at the venue and date notified on nclcil.in.
- Medical Fitness Test: Final joining is subject to clearing a medical test as per Mines Rules 1955. Fitness certificate must be issued by a Government Hospital medical officer of rank not less than an Assistant Civil Surgeon, and must be issued after the notification release date.
- Tie-breaking: In case of a tie in score, preference is given to the candidate born earlier. If still tied, the name appearing first in the English dictionary (Roman script) is preferred.

- Visit the NATS portal at nats.education.gov.in if you are applying for Graduate or Diploma Apprentice positions, OR visit the NAPS portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in if you are applying for ITI Trade Apprentice positions.
- Register yourself on the respective portal (NATS or NAPS) using a valid mobile number and email address to create an account and obtain an Enrolment ID / Registration Number.
- Log in to the portal and search for Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) apprentice vacancies under Notification No. NCL/HRD/CETI/2026-27/168.

General Terms and Conditions
- Apprenticeship Training duration is one year from the date of engagement.
- Apprentices are eligible for 11 days Casual Leave and 15 days Medical Leave per year.
- Working hours are between 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
- Stipend will be paid directly into the AADHAAR-linked bank account as per the signed contract.
- No accommodation, food, lodging or transport will be provided during training.
- No TA/DA will be paid to candidates called for document scrutiny.
- Apprenticeship Trainees will not be absorbed as permanent employees of NCL.
- Apprentices will be covered under the Workmen Compensation Act 1923 for accidents during training.
- The apprenticeship contract will be generated through NATS/NAPS portal and must be approved by BOAT-Western Region / RDSDE Bhopal.
