How To Read The Table

UR means Unreserved, OBC means Other Backward Classes, EWS means Economically Weaker Section, and PwBD means Persons with Benchmark Disability. DSM stands for Delhi School of Management, and USME stands for University School of Management and Entrepreneurship (East Delhi Campus). The letters in the PwBD column, such as (a), (b), (c) and (d and e), refer to benchmark disability types, and the suitability of each type for a discipline can be checked in Annexure-I of the original notification.

Points To Note About The Vacancies

  • The vacancies are provisional and the university can vary them as per its requirement.
  • Geospatial Science and Geospatial Technology are marked with a hash sign. These posts are currently borrowed from the sanctioned posts of other disciplines, and regularisation of incumbents will happen only after the application for creation, approval and sanction of these posts.
  • PwBD vacancies are not earmarked discipline-wise. If a PwBD post stays unfilled for want of a suitable candidate, it may be filled by a suitable candidate from another category, and the vacancy is carried forward to a later advertisement.

Who Can Apply

The notification does not repeat pay scale, essential qualifications, relevant branches and experience in its body. These are given in the detailed Recruitment Rules, which are available through the links in Annexure-II of the original PDF. Read the rules for your discipline before you pay any fee, because eligibility is decided against them.

Basic Conditions From The Notification

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • There is no upper age limit for appointment as Assistant Professor, though the age of superannuation follows the prevailing university norms.
  • Educational qualification, age, experience and other eligibility conditions are judged as on 07/12/2026 (till 05:00 PM).
  • AMIE and IETE qualifications in the relevant branches mentioned in the Recruitment Rules are also eligible.
  • Four-year or longer degrees such as B.Sc. (Engineering), B.E., B.Tech. and B.S. (Four Years) are treated as equivalent, and so are M.Sc. (Engineering), M.E., M.Tech. and M.S.
  • If a class or division is not awarded, a minimum of 60 percent marks in aggregate is treated as equal to first class.
  • Degrees from foreign universities need an equivalence or recognition certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), wherever applicable.

Five Percent Relaxation In Selected Disciplines

For Applied Mathematics, Applied Chemistry, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics (candidates other than Engineering discipline), Humanities (Economics), Humanities (English), Economics (USME), Geospatial Science and Biotechnology (candidates other than Engineering discipline), a 5 percent relaxation applies at both Bachelor's and Master's level. It is available to SC, ST, OBC (NCL-Delhi) and PwBD candidates, following the UGC Gazette Notification dated 18 July 2018, and is based only on qualifying marks without any grace mark procedure. The base eligibility mark is 55 percent. Ph.D. holders who completed their Master's degree before 19 September 1991 also get a relaxation from 55 percent to 50 percent.

Special Cases

  • Candidates already working in a Government department, autonomous body or university under the Central or State Government must apply through proper channel.
  • Candidates from private organizations who claim earlier regular experience in such government bodies must attach a certificate from that organization stating that no vigilance or disciplinary case was pending or contemplated. Without it, they become ineligible.
  • If a qualification is treated as equivalent, the authority, number and date of that order must be mentioned and a copy attached.
  • Any deviation in the name of a branch or degree compared with the Recruitment Rules may also be considered by the university.

Application Fee

Category Application Fee
UR and OBC Rs. 2000
EWS, SC and ST Rs. 1000
PwBD Exempt

The concession or exemption applies only where the post is reserved for your category and you have applied against that reserved post. The fee is accepted through online mode only. Once paid, it is not refunded under any circumstances and cannot be adjusted against any other recruitment process. Keep the payment proof safe, since it is asked for again at the document stage.

How The Selection Works

DTU does not hold a written test for this recruitment. Instead, the first cut is made by software that scores your online application, and only the top scorers move on to a human check of their documents, followed by a teaching presentation and an interview.

Stage 1: Screening On A 100-Point Scale

Criteria Maximum Score
Ph.D. 30
Pre-Ph.D. degree mentioned in the Recruitment Rules (such as M.Tech, B.Tech, M.Sc, MBA, MA or M.Des), scored as 35 + 0.5 (X - 50), where X is the percentage of marks 60
Qualified test for UG or PG scholarship (UGC/CSIR-NET (JRF), GATE or CEED) in the relevant field 10

The pre-Ph.D. degree must be at least two years long and must be mentioned in the Recruitment Rules, and you may choose whichever such degree gives you the best score. As a quick example, 70 percent marks gives 35 + 0.5 x 20 = 45 points. If your degree shows a method for converting grade points, that method is used. Otherwise, percentage equals 10 times CGPA. A foreign Ph.D. must be recognized by the AIU, with a certificate from the candidate.

Applications are auto-processed from what you enter, so any error in filling this section is your own responsibility. If you attach no document for a claim, the score for that segment is taken as zero.

Stage 2: Consideration Zone And Hard Copy Submission

The university publishes a provisional list of candidates in the consideration zone, which includes candidates up to 1.2 times the number to be shortlisted, along with anyone tied with the last candidate. Only these candidates send a printed, page-wise signed copy of the online form with self-attested copies of documents such as:

  • Educational qualification and experience documents
  • Category certificate and PwBD certificate
  • Front page of the Ph.D. thesis and front pages of publications
  • Documents supporting the points claimed
  • Fee receipt or proof of payment

Everything goes in a single sealed envelope addressed to The Recruitment Cell, Room No. 818, 8th Floor, AB-3 Block, Delhi Technological University, Shahbad Daulatpur, Bawana Road, Delhi - 110042. The envelope must carry the line: Application for the post of Assistant Professor in the discipline of [Name of the Discipline].

Stage 3: Provisional Shortlisting

Candidates meeting the Recruitment Rules and falling in the consideration zone are shortlisted on score merit. The maximum number shortlisted is 4 + 8X, where X is the number of advertised posts in that discipline and category. If a reserved category cut-off turns out higher than the UR cut-off, reserved candidates scoring equal to or above the UR cut-off are also shortlisted. The list goes on the university website, and anyone not shortlisted cannot continue in the process.

Stage 4: Document Verification, Presentation And Interview

Shortlisted candidates are called for Document and Point Mark Verification with original documents and one set of self-attested copies. A candidate who cannot produce a required document is cancelled and is not allowed to sit for the presentation and interview. Those who clear verification receive two tickets, one for the presentation and one for the interview.

The presentation, given before a committee, assesses teaching aptitude and ability. The interview before the Selection Committee assesses domain knowledge and overall performance. The final selection rests on academic record, experience and research performance, teaching aptitude, domain knowledge and interview performance. In cases of exceptional merit, the Selection Committee may recommend additional increments for higher qualifications, experience and academic achievements.

  • The university is not responsible for postal delays or loss, and all correspondence goes only to the email address given in the form or is uploaded on the university website.
