MP Shikshak Patrata Pariksha 2026 (MPESB TET) for In-Service Teachers: Online Form, Exam Date and Eligibility

MP TET 2026: Shikshak Patrata Pariksha Online Form

The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB), Bhopal has opened online applications for the Shikshak Patrata Pariksha 2026, a Teacher Eligibility Test meant specifically for teachers already working in government and private primary and secondary schools who have not yet cleared TET. The exam follows an order of the Supreme Court in Civil Appeal 1385/2025 and 1386/2025 dated September 1, 2025, and is being conducted separately from the regular recruitment-linked TET. Online forms opened on August 21, 2026 and can be submitted till September 4, 2026, with the exam scheduled for October 12, 2026.

Last Date: 2026-09-04 23:59:00

Why This Exam Is Being Held

In the case cited above, the Supreme Court held that serving teachers appointed before the Right to Education Act came into force, and who have more than five years of service left before superannuation, must qualify TET to continue in service. Teachers with less than five years of service left are exempted from this requirement, though they cannot be considered for promotion without TET. A later order, passed on a review petition (Diary No. 53434/2025), extended the deadline for in-service teachers to acquire the TET qualification from two years to three years, moving the cut-off date from August 31, 2027 to August 31, 2028.

Following this, the Directorate of Public Instruction, Madhya Pradesh (letters dated July 4 and July 15, 2026) and the Commissioner, Tribal Affairs Department (letter dated August 7, 2026) have directed MPESB to conduct this special eligibility test for such in-service teachers at the primary and secondary levels.

Who Can Apply

This eligibility test is open only to teachers who are already teaching and have not previously cleared a TET. It is not a recruitment exam, and passing it does not create any right to be considered for direct appointment to a government teaching post in the future; it only allows an in-service teacher to continue in their current role as required by the Supreme Court's order.

Primary Level

All teachers working in government schools at the primary level are eligible, including those designated as Sahayak Shikshak, Prathmik Shikshak, Sahayak Adhyapak, Samvida Shala Shikshak Varg 3, Prayogshala Sahayak, Prathmik Shikshak Vigyan and Sahayak Shikshak Vigyan, provided they have not cleared the TET conducted under the Right to Education Act. Teachers working at the primary level in non-government (private) schools who have not cleared TET can also apply.

Secondary Level

Teachers working in government schools at the secondary level, including those designated as Shikshak, Madhyamik Shikshak, Adhyapak and Samvida Shala Shikshak Varg 2, are eligible if they have not cleared TET. Secondary-level teachers in non-government schools who have not cleared TET may also apply.
