Application Fee

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification for Assistant and Upper Division Clerk

Graduation with a minimum of 60 percent marks or a CGPA of 6.32 on a 10-point scale from a recognised university, completed within the stipulated duration prescribed by the university, along with proficiency in the use of computers.

Educational Qualification for Junior Personal Assistant and Stenographer

Graduation with a minimum of 60 percent marks or CGPA of 6.32, or a Diploma in Commercial or Secretarial Practice with the same minimum marks, along with one year of experience as a Steno-Typist or Stenographer. Candidates must also have a minimum speed of 60 words per minute in English Stenography and proficiency in the use of computers. Candidates holding a Diploma in Commercial Practice or Diploma in Commercial and Computer Practice can count their Apprenticeship Training Certificate issued by the Board of Apprenticeship Training as equivalent to the required one year of experience.

Age Limit

Candidates must be 28 years old as on 16 August 2026, with relaxation to 31 years for OBC candidates and 33 years for SC/ST candidates against reserved posts. This corresponds to a date of birth on or after 17 August 1998 for UR/EWS candidates, 17 August 1995 for OBC candidates, and 17 August 1993 for SC/ST candidates. Age relaxation is also available to serving government employees, Ex-Servicemen, persons with disabilities, meritorious sportspersons, and widowed, divorced or judicially separated women who have not remarried, as per Government of India orders.

Application Restrictions

A candidate can apply for different posts under the same or different zones but cannot apply for the same post number in two different zones. Candidates applying for more than one post must select common written test centres for all their applications, and only the notified reservation of each applied post number will be considered.

Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be appointed in Level 4 of the Pay Matrix with a minimum basic pay of Rupees 25,500 per month. In addition, Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and Transport Allowance are payable as per extant central government rules. Employees will be covered under the New Pension Scheme and are also entitled to medical facilities for self and dependents, subsidised canteen facility, limited quarters facility in lieu of HRA, Leave Travel Concession, Group Insurance, and House Building Advance.

Selection Process

Selection will be made through a Written Test followed by a Skill Test.

Written Test

The written test is a single objective-type paper of 150 minutes duration, with compensatory time for PwBD candidates as applicable. The qualifying marks are 50 percent for unreserved candidates and 40 percent for reserved category candidates against notified reserved vacancies. Based on written test performance, candidates are shortlisted for the skill test in a ratio of 1:5 of the category-wise vacancies, subject to a minimum number of candidates.

Skill Test

For Assistant and Upper Division Clerk posts, the skill test comprises a Computer Literacy Test only. For Junior Personal Assistant and Stenographer posts, it comprises both a Computer Literacy Test and a Stenography Test. The Computer Literacy Test requires 60 percent marks for unreserved candidates and 50 percent for reserved candidates. The Stenography Test allows a maximum of 10 percent mistakes for unreserved candidates and 12 percent for reserved candidates. Final selection is based on marks scored in the written test among candidates who qualify the skill test. In case of a tie in written test marks, candidates for Assistant/UDC/Assistant posts are ranked first on marks in General Intelligence and Reasoning, and candidates for JPA/Stenographer posts are ranked first on marks in English Language and Comprehension, with older candidates given preference thereafter.

Computer Literacy Test

The Computer Literacy Test carries 100 marks and is to be completed in 75 minutes, covering MS Word (35 marks), MS Excel (35 marks) and MS PowerPoint (30 marks).

Stenography Test

Candidates for JPA/Stenographer posts will also take a shorthand dictation of 300 words at 60 words per minute, with 5 minutes for dictation and 30 minutes for transcription on computer, following Pittman's shorthand method.
