Eligibility Criteria
Candidates need to meet one of the following two qualification routes to be eligible for NORCET-11:
Route I
- B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing or B.Sc Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council or State Nursing Council recognized institute or university, OR a Post-Certificate/Post-Basic B.Sc Nursing from a recognized institute or university
- Registration as a Nurse and Midwife with a State or Indian Nursing Council
Route II
- Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery from an Indian Nursing Council or State Nursing Council recognized institute, board, or council
- Registration as a Nurse and Midwife with a State or Indian Nursing Council
- Two years of experience in a hospital with a minimum of 50 beds, acquired after completing the residency period, declaration of result, and council registration
Age Limit
Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years of age. The closing date of online registration is treated as the reference date for calculating age. Age relaxation is available for reserved categories: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PwBD (capped at 56 years), and additional combined relaxation for candidates falling under more than one category. Ex-Servicemen get relaxation equal to their length of military service plus 3 years, and specified relaxation is also available for Central Government civilian employees who have completed at least 3 years of regular service.

As per a decision taken in the 4th meeting of the Common Institute Board, 80 percent of seats at participating AIIMS are reserved for female candidates and 20 percent for male candidates.
Pay Scale
The post carries Level 07 in the Pay Matrix, corresponding to the pre-revised Pay Band-2 of Rs.9,300 to 34,800 with Grade Pay of Rs.4,600, and is classified as a Group-B post. Selected candidates will also get the usual allowances admissible to Central Government employees posted at the respective city of their allotted institute.
Selection Process
Selection to the post of Nursing Officer is made purely on the basis of performance in the two-stage Online Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by choice-filling, allocation, and document verification.
Stage I: NORCET Preliminary
- Duration: 90 minutes
- 100 MCQs (20 questions on General Knowledge and Aptitude, 80 questions on Nursing subjects)
- Negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer
- Qualifying only; does not count towards the final merit list
- Qualifying percentile: 50 for UR/EWS, 45 for OBC, 40 for SC/ST, with an additional 5 percentile relaxation for PwBD candidates in each category
Stage II: NORCET Main
- Duration: 180 minutes
- 160 MCQs based on case-scenario style nursing skill competency questions
- Negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer
- Decides the final merit list
- Qualifying marks: 50% for UR/EWS, 45% for OBC, 40% for SC/ST, with an additional 5% relaxation for PwBD candidates in each category
Only candidates equal to 5 times the number of seats in each category (UR, OBC, SC, ST, EWS) who qualify in Stage I are called for Stage II, along with all qualified PwBD candidates and tie cases at the cut-off. After Stage II, qualified candidates fill choices of institutes in order of preference, and seats are allocated strictly by merit.
How to Apply
- Visit the official AIIMS Examination website at aiimsexams.ac.in and go to the NORCET-11 online application link.
- Candidates who already have an old registration ID or OTR (One Time Registration) from a previous AIIMS exam must apply using the same ID, since a fresh registration ID will lead to rejection.
- Fill in the online application form carefully with personal, educational, and category details, since corrections are not allowed after submission.
- Upload the photograph, signature, and thumb impression images exactly as per the prescribed format and size mentioned in the upload guidelines.
- Pay the applicable application fee online through debit card, credit card, or net banking.
- Candidates who are working in Government, Semi-Government, PSU, or Autonomous Body employment must upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer by 18 August 2026, failing which their candidature will be cancelled.
