UTET 2026 Application Fee

The fee has to be paid online through debit card, credit card, UPI, or net banking. Once paid, the fee is not refunded under any circumstances, and candidates are advised to pay carefully to avoid making duplicate payments.

Eligibility Criteria

UTET has two levels, and a candidate can apply for one level or for both in a single online application. The exam for both levels is held on the same day in two separate shifts.

UTET-I (Primary Level, Classes I to V)

A candidate is eligible for UTET-I if they meet any one of the following academic and training qualifications, as listed in the brochure:

• Senior Secondary with at least 50 percent marks and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed or BTC), passed, in training, or enrolled.
• Senior Secondary with at least 45 percent marks and a two-year D.El.Ed or BTC recognised under NCTE norms.
• Senior Secondary with at least 50 percent marks and a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
• Senior Secondary with at least 50 percent marks and a two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India.
• Graduation and a two-year D.El.Ed or BTC.
• Shiksha Mitras who have completed the two-year D.El.Ed through IGNOU with state government permission.
• In-service teachers regularly appointed as Assistant Teacher or Headmaster in Classes I to V in UDISE-coded schools.

UTET-II (Upper Primary Level, Classes VI to VIII)

A candidate is eligible for UTET-II if they meet any one of the following qualifications:

• Graduation and a two-year D.El.Ed or BTC.
• Graduation with at least 50 percent marks and a one-year B.Ed, L.T., or Shiksha Shastri (institutional only).
• Graduation with at least 45 percent marks and a one-year B.Ed, L.T., or Shiksha Shastri, in line with applicable NCTE regulations.
• Senior Secondary with at least 50 percent marks and a four-year B.El.Ed.
• Senior Secondary with at least 50 percent marks and a four-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
• Graduation with at least 50 percent marks and a B.Ed in Special Education recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India.
• Graduation or post-graduation with at least 50 percent marks and a B.Ed, with the graduation-level percentage relaxed for those admitted to a B.Ed or equivalent course before 29 July 2011.
• In-service teachers regularly appointed as Assistant Teacher, Headmaster, or Assistant Teacher (LT Grade) in Classes VI to VIII in UDISE-coded schools.

Candidates from the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class, and PwBD categories get a 5 percent relaxation in the minimum marks required at the graduation level. Candidates still undergoing training in a two-year diploma or a four-year degree programme, or who have already taken admission to one, are also eligible to appear, though their certificate becomes valid only after they pass the relevant training course.

Exam Pattern

UTET is a multiple-choice test with no negative marking. Each paper carries 150 questions worth 150 marks, and the duration for each paper is 2 hours 30 minutes. Question papers other than the language papers are printed bilingually, in Hindi and English.

For the first language paper, candidates choose either Hindi or English, and the second language paper must be a different language chosen from Hindi, English, Sanskrit, or Urdu. For UTET-II, candidates must also choose either the Mathematics and Science group or the Social Studies group as their fourth subject.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

Qualifying UTET only makes a candidate eligible for a teaching post and does not itself guarantee recruitment or selection, since appointment is made separately by the state government under its teacher service rules.

Exam Cities

The written exam will be held at 29 exam cities spread across all 13 districts of Uttarakhand, including Dehradun, Haridwar, Roorkee, Rishikesh, Haldwani, Nainital, Ramnagar, Kashipur, Rudrapur, Almora, Pithoragarh, and others listed in the brochure. Candidates give two preferred exam cities in order of priority, and once a centre is allotted, no request for change is accepted. If fewer than 100 candidates opt for a particular city, that city will not get an exam centre and candidates will instead be allotted their second-preference city or the nearest possible city.

How to Apply for UTET 2026

1. Visit the official website www.ukutet.com and download the UTET-I and II 2026 Information Brochure to read the eligibility conditions and instructions carefully before starting the form.
2. On the homepage, click on How to Apply Online, then select New Applicant, agree to the terms and conditions, and click Proceed to Registration.
3. Enter your name, father's name, mobile number, and email ID on the registration page, submit the details, and verify the OTP sent to your mobile number or email ID.
4. Note down the registration number and password received on your mobile number and email ID, then log in on the Applicant Login page using these details.
5. Fill in the application form with your personal details, choice of UTET-I, UTET-II, or both, category, sub-category, language choices, training eligibility code, exam city preferences, and correspondence address, then save and proceed.
6. Upload a recent passport-size photograph, your signature, and your left thumb impression in the specified size and format shown on the upload page.
7. Preview the completed application, check every entry carefully, accept the declaration, and lock the form, since no changes are allowed after this step.
8. Pay the application fee online through net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI, then download and print the final application form and the fee payment receipt for your records.

The board has clarified that a single mobile number and email ID can be used for only one application, and once the fee is paid, no entry in the form can be modified in any situation.

Documents and Uploads Required

• A recent, clear photograph in JPG format, sized between 5 KB and 100 KB, with pixel dimensions of 140 width by 170 height.
• A clear signature in JPG format, sized between 2 KB and 50 KB, with pixel dimensions of 180 width by 70 height.
• A left thumb impression in JPG format, sized between 10 KB and 150 KB, with pixel dimensions of 250 width by 150 height.
• A valid photo identity proof such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving Licence, to be entered in the form and produced at the exam if asked.

Admit Card and Exam Day

Admit cards will be made available on the board's official website seven days before the exam and will not be sent by post. Candidates must carry the downloaded admit card along with the identity proof mentioned in their application. Calculators, mobile phones, pagers, digital watches, and any printed or handwritten material are strictly not allowed inside the exam hall, and any such item found with a candidate will be treated as use of unfair means. All rough work must be done only in the test booklet, since any stray mark on the OMR answer sheet can lead to rejection of that sheet.
