Posts, Vacancies and Pay

The split is 98 UR, 26 SC, 14 ST, 41 OBC-NCL and 12 EWS. Vacancies are provisional and may change.

Eligibility and Qualification

Qualifications must be held by 4 December 2026.

• Chief Law Assistant: Law degree with 3 years standing as a Pleader at Bar. Serving Railway law graduates with 5 years of service can also apply.
• Public Prosecutor: Law degree and five years standing as an advocate at Bar.
• Senior Publicity Inspector: Degree plus a diploma in Public Relations, Advertising, Journalism or Mass Communication.
• Junior Translator (Hindi): Master degree in Hindi or English with the other language as subject or medium, plus a translation diploma or 2 years of translation experience.
• Staff and Welfare Inspector: Graduation plus a labour, social welfare, labour laws, personnel management or HR qualification.
• Scientific Assistant (Training): Master degree in Psychology with 50% marks.
• Lab Assistant Grade III: 12th with Physics and Chemistry.

Age Limit and Relaxation

Age is counted as on 1 January 2027, and you must be born on or before 1 January 2009. Upper age relaxation is 5 years for SC and ST, 3 years for OBC-NCL, and 10 to 15 years for PwBD. Ex-servicemen get 3 to 8 years.

Application Fee

EBC is not the same as OBC or EWS.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

Selection has a single-stage CBT, a translation test for Junior Translator only, and document verification with medical examination.

The paper has 100 marks, runs 90 minutes and carries one-third negative marking. Qualifying marks are 40% for UR and EWS, 30% for OBC-NCL and SC, 25% for ST.

Junior Translator (Hindi)

The CBT has 30 Hindi and 20 English questions at 12th level, plus general topics. Ten times the vacancies are called for a qualifying translation test with 60% pass marks, and merit is decided by CBT marks alone.

Professional Ability Syllabus

The 50 post-specific questions follow Annexures IX to XV: law and criminal procedure for legal posts, communication and public relations for Senior Publicity Inspector, labour legislation for Staff and Welfare Inspector, psychology for Scientific Assistant, and materials testing for Lab Assistant.

How to Apply for RRB Isolated Categories CEN 09/2026

1. Read the full CEN on the official RRB website and confirm you meet the qualification, age and medical standard for your post.
2. Create an account with a personal mobile number and email ID, and verify your identity through DigiLocker or Aadhaar. Account details cannot be edited later.
3. Log in and fill the form. Choose one RRB, your exam medium and your order of preference for posts and railway zones.
4. Capture a live photograph against a plain white background and upload your signature as a JPG file of 30 KB to 49 KB. SC and ST candidates wanting the free train pass also upload their caste certificate as a PDF below 400 KB.
5. Submit the form and pay the fee online through internet banking, card or UPI on or before 6 December 2026.
6. Keep the email or SMS payment confirmation and note your registration number.

Bring original documents to verification. Serving government employees also need an NOC from their employer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What Is the Last Date to Apply?

The online application closes at 23:59 on 4 December 2026. The fee can be paid until 23:59 on 6 December 2026, and acceptance follows payment confirmation.

Q2. Can I Apply to More Than One RRB?

No. You can choose only one RRB and the choice is final. Multiple applications lead to rejection of all of them and debarment from future RRB and RRC examinations.

Q3. How Much Is the Application Fee?

The fee is ₹500 for most candidates and ₹250 for SC, ST, ex-servicemen, PwBD, female, transgender, minority and EBC candidates. Part of the fee is refunded after bank charges on appearing in the CBT.

Q4. Can Candidates Awaiting Final Results Apply?

No. You must already hold the prescribed qualification on or before 4 December 2026.

Q5. Can I Edit the Form After Submission?

Yes, from 7 December to 16 December 2026, on payment of a non-refundable fee of ₹250 per modification. Details in the Create an Account form and the chosen RRB cannot be changed.
