Eligibility Criteria
You need a valid GATE 2025 score and a full-time or part-time bachelor degree, passed on or before 1 November 2026, in the branch matching your GATE paper.
- ME: Mechanical, or Mechanical and Production Engineering
- EE: Electrical, Electrical and Electronics, or Power Engineering
- CE: Civil, or Civil and Structural Engineering
- MN: Mining Engineering
Minimum degree marks are 60% for UR, EWS and OBC (NCL) and 50% for SC and ST, with no rounding up. The degree must be from a UGC or AICTE recognised Indian institution, and only Indian nationals can apply.

Relaxation is 5 years for SC and ST, 3 years for OBC (NCL) and 10 years for PwBD (13 for PwBD-OBC, 15 for PwBD-SC/ST). The maximum age after relaxation is 58 years.

Payment is online through SBI Collect. Bank service charges are extra, and nothing paid is refundable.
Pay, Training and Bond
GETs train for one year on a basic pay of INR 50,000 per month plus allowances (E-2 scale INR 50,000 to 1,60,000), roughly INR 14.50 lakh CTC a year. After training they move to Grade E-3 (INR 60,000 to 1,80,000) with a service bond of INR 3,00,000 covering three years of service.
Selection Process
Merit is out of 100: GATE 2025 score (80 marks) plus Personal Interview (20 marks).
- Candidates are shortlisted per Area in the ratio 1:6 (or 1:10 as the case may be) by GATE merit, with due reservation.
- Document verification precedes the interview, so keep originals ready.
- Ties are broken by older date of birth, then alphabetical order of first name.
How to Apply
- Confirm that you hold a valid GATE 2025 score in ME, EE, CE or MN and the matching bachelor degree with minimum marks.
- Keep your GATE 2025 registration number, an active mobile number and a valid email ID ready, as NLCIL sends updates only by SMS or email.
- Register on the NLCIL website between 13 November 2026 (10:00 hrs) and 14 December 2026 (17:00 hrs).
- Fill in personal, educational, age and category details and choose one Area from Area-1, Area-2, Area-3 or Area-4.
- Upload self-attested scans in the prescribed format and size, merging multi-page proofs into one chronological PDF.
- Pay the fee online through SBI Collect by 14 December 2026 (23:45 hrs), then submit and print the application form.
Documents and Upload Rules
Upload self-attested scans: photograph (3.5 cm by 4.5 cm, taken after 01-03-2026) and signature as JPEG up to 50 KB, ID and GATE score card up to 250 KB, and academic proofs as PDF up to 2.5 MB. OBC (NCL) and EWS certificates must be dated on or after 01-04-2026, and government or PSU employees need a No Objection Certificate.

Q1. What is the last date to apply for the NLC India GET recruitment?
Online registration closes on 14 December 2026 at 17:00 hrs, and fee payment is possible until 23:45 hrs the same day. Candidates who registered and paid on time can complete final submission by 16 December 2026 at 17:00 hrs.
Q2. Is a GATE score compulsory for this recruitment?
Yes, candidates must hold a GATE 2025 score in the relevant paper code: ME, EE, CE or MN. There is no separate written test, as the GATE marks carry 80 of the 100 merit marks.
Q3. Can I apply in more than one Area?
No, a candidate can apply for one Area only, and the choice cannot be altered after submission. If someone applies in several Areas, only the latest application is considered.
Q4. How much is the application fee?
UR, EWS and OBC (NCL) candidates pay INR 854, including INR 354 processing fee with GST. SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates pay only INR 354, and no payment is refundable.
Q5. Is there a service bond for selected candidates?
Yes, selected candidates must sign a Service Agreement Bond of INR 3,00,000 to serve NLCIL for at least three years after training. Transfers are also not allowed during the first three years from joining.
