Pay Scale - UPPSC PCS 2026

The posts included in UPPSC PCS 2026 carry pay scales as per the 6th Pay Commission:

  • Lower Range: Rs. 9300-34800 with Grade Pay Rs. 4200 (for Naib Tehsildar) or Rs. 4600
  • Upper Range: Rs. 15600-39100 with Grade Pay Rs. 5400

Selection Process - UPPSC PCS 2026

The selection for UPPSC PCS 2026 takes place in three successive stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination - Objective type, multiple choice (OMR-based). Used for shortlisting only.
  2. Main Examination - Conventional (written) type. Final merit is based on main exam marks (and interview for applicable posts).
  3. Viva-Voce / Personality Test - For posts that include an interview, carrying 100 marks.

Based on Preliminary Exam results, 15 times the number of vacancies are called for Main Examination. Based on Main Exam results, 3 times the number of vacancies are called for Interview. For some posts, recruitment is based only on written examination marks as per their service rules.

How to Apply for UPPSC PCS 2026

The application process for UPPSC PCS 2026 is entirely online through the OTR-based system. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Visit the official OTR portal at otr.pariksha.nic.in and complete your One Time Registration (OTR) to obtain your OTR number at least 72 hours before the application deadline.
  2. Go to the official UPPSC website uppsc.up.nic.in and click on 'All Notifications/Advertisements', then click on 'Apply' against the UPPSC PCS 2026 advertisement.
  3. Click on 'Authenticate with OTR', enter your OTR number, and authenticate via OTP received on your registered mobile number or email ID, or use your OTR password.
  4. Your personal details from OTR will be auto-filled. Fill in the required educational qualifications and choose Yes/No for each preferential qualification mentioned for the post.
  5. Proceed to fee payment through the SBI MOPS gateway. Pay the prescribed fee via Net Banking, Card Payment, or other available modes and take a print of the Payment Transaction Slip.
  6. After successful fee payment, the final application form will be displayed on screen. Take a printout of the completed application form and keep it safe for future reference.
  7. If any correction is needed in educational qualification details, log in to Candidate Dashboard and modify only once before the last date of correction, which is 03 August 2026.

Important: Applications sent by any medium other than online will not be accepted. Hard copies of documents should NOT be sent to the commission at the preliminary stage.

Reservation Policy - UPPSC PCS 2026

  • Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS of UP is as per relevant UP Government rules.
  • Horizontal reservation applies for Dependents of Freedom Fighters (UP), Female candidates, Ex-Servicemen (UP), PH (UP), and Outstanding Sports Persons (UP).
  • Reservation/age relaxation benefits are available only to permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh in the respective categories. Candidates from other states in reserved categories are not entitled to these benefits.
  • Candidates claiming multiple categories of reservation/age relaxation will receive only one — whichever is more beneficial.
  • In case of women candidates, only the caste certificate issued from the father's side is valid.
  • EWS candidates must submit the income and property certificate for the financial year immediately preceding the year of application from all sources.

General Rules - UPPSC PCS 2026

  • Applications will not be accepted after the last prescribed date under any circumstances.
  • Date of birth as recorded in the High School Certificate only will be considered valid.
  • Candidates must ensure eligibility before applying; the commission does not advise candidates about their eligibility individually.
  • Providing false information will lead to cancellation of candidature and debarment from all future UPPSC examinations and selections for up to 5 years; action under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita may also be taken.
  • Candidates must use Black Ball Point Pen on OMR Answer Sheets only. Use of whitener, blade, pin, or rubber on OMR sheets is strictly prohibited.
  • The provisions of the UP Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 will apply to this examination.
  • Male candidates with more than one living wife and female candidates who have married a person already having a living wife are not eligible unless exempted by the Hon'ble Governor.
  • Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination of the essential qualification prescribed for the post are not eligible to apply.
  • The commission reserves the right to cancel candidature at any stage if a candidate is found ineligible.
