Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc and A.H.) from a university established by law and recognised by the Veterinary Council of India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the government, or any other veterinary qualification as defined in Section 2(h) of the Indian Veterinary Act, 1984 (as amended from time to time). Recognised equivalent qualifications include B.V.Sc, B.Sc (Vety), GVSc, GVSc and AH, GBVS, GMVS, MRCVS, BVM, DVM, B.Sc (Pashu Chikitsa) and BVASc, among others listed in the notification.

Candidates must also be duly registered with the Uttarakhand Veterinary Council.

Preferential Qualification

Other things being equal, preference in direct recruitment will be given to a candidate who holds a postgraduate degree, diploma or other higher qualification in veterinary science, or has served at least two years in the Territorial Army, or holds a 'B' or 'C' certificate from the National Cadet Corps. Recognised postgraduate equivalents include M.V.Sc in Surgery, Gynaecology, Breeding, Medicine, Radiology, Microbiology, Pathology, Animal Nutrition, Public Health, Biochemistry and Poultry.

Pay Scale

The selected Veterinary Officer will be placed in Pay Level-10, with a pay scale of Rs 56,100 to Rs 1,77,500. The post is a Group B, gazetted, temporary post carrying contributory pension benefits.

Selection Process

Selection to the post of Veterinary Officer will be made purely on the basis of a merit list prepared from the marks scored in an objective type written examination. There is no interview or physical test for this recruitment. Exam Pattern

The written examination will be objective type (multiple choice) and will consist of three papers as detailed below.

The total marks for the examination are 800. Negative marking will apply: one-fourth of the marks allotted to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer, and marking more than one answer to a question will also be treated as a wrong answer. No marks are deducted for questions left unanswered. Use of a calculator or any other calculating device is not permitted in the examination hall.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

Candidates belonging to Uttarakhand women, orphan children and state movement categories will be evaluated against the minimum qualifying marks of their original social category.
