Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 62 years as on 31 August 2022.
- Age relaxation is applicable for reserved category candidates as per UP Government norms.
Pay Scale
- Pay Band: Rs. 15600–39100 with Grade Pay of Rs. 6000, plus allowances as per state government rules.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold the following minimum qualifications as on 31 August 2022:
Option A:
- Postgraduate degree in Science / Mathematics / Social Science / Humanities with minimum 55% marks
- AND M.Ed. degree with minimum 55% marks
- AND Qualified UGC NET in Education subject
- OR Ph.D. in Education under UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations 2009
Option B:
- Postgraduate degree in Science / Mathematics / Social Science / Humanities with minimum 55% marks
- AND Postgraduate degree in Education (Shiksha Shastra) with minimum 55% marks
- AND B.Ed. degree or equivalent with minimum 55% marks
- AND Qualified UGC NET in Education subject
- OR Ph.D. in Education under UGC Regulations 2009
Note: SC/ST candidates of UP get 5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks as per UP government reservation rules.
Selection Process
Selection of candidates for UPESSC Assistant Professor BEd 2026 is done through two stages:
- Stage 1 – Written Exam: Objective type question paper with 200 marks.
- General Knowledge: 30 questions (60 marks)
- Subject-related questions: 70 questions (140 marks)
- Each question carries 2 marks. No negative marking.
- Stage 2 – Interview: 30 marks
- Total Merit: 230 marks (Written 200 + Interview 30)
Candidates qualifying the written exam will be called for interview. Final merit list is prepared on the basis of total score out of 230 marks.
Examination Structure / Syllabus
- Written exam will have a single objective type question paper (OMR based).
- Candidates must use black ballpoint pen only to fill OMR answers. Pencils, gel pens, or whitener are strictly prohibited.
- The subject-wise syllabus is available on upessc.up.gov.in under the Examination tab.
- Visually impaired candidates may use a scribe (Shrutlekha) as per UP government rules. Scribe must have educational qualification not higher than Intermediate.
- Extra 40 minutes will be given to visually impaired candidates using a scribe.

Reservation Rules
- Reservation benefits are available only to SC / ST / OBC / EWS candidates who are domicile of Uttar Pradesh.
- Candidates from other states belonging to OBC/SC/ST/EWS will be treated as General category.
- Candidates claiming multiple reservation categories will get only one benefit (the most advantageous one).
- Female candidates applying for women's colleges — the reservation of women in co-education colleges applies at 20% horizontal reservation for women candidates.
- Male candidates should not include women's colleges in their preference order.
Important Rules
- Applications once submitted (Submit) cannot be changed. Ensure all details are correct before final submission.
- Date of birth will be accepted only as per High School marksheet / certificate. No other document is valid.
- Candidates must have the required educational qualification as on 31 August 2022.
- Age as on 31 August 2022 must not exceed 62 years. Applications of candidates with age above 62 years will not be accepted.
- If any false information is found at any stage, the candidature will be cancelled and the candidate may be barred from future examinations.
