  • For Constable posts of Washerman, Barber, Water Carrier, Waiter, Tailor, Gardener and Cobbler: Citizen of India only.
  • For Constable posts of Driver, Veterinary, Carpenter and Nursing Orderly: Citizen of India. Subject of Nepal or Bhutan may also apply with prior Central Government permission.

Educational Qualification

Constable (Veterinary) 18 to 27 years 10th class pass with Science from a recognized Board; and one year experience in treatment of animals in a recognized Veterinary Hospital.
Constable (Driver) - Male Only 18 to 27 years 10th class pass from a recognized Board; and must possess valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License.
Constable (Gardener, Water Carrier, Cobbler, Tailor, Washerman, Barber, Waiter) 18 to 23 years Matriculation or equivalent from recognized board; with two years work experience in respective trade; OR one year ITI certificate with one year experience; OR two years ITI Diploma in the trade. Must qualify trade test. Multi-skilled candidates will be given preference.
Constable (Carpenter) 18 to 25 years Matriculation or equivalent from recognized board; with two years work experience; OR one year ITI certificate with one year experience; OR two years ITI Diploma in the trade. Must qualify trade test.
Constable (Nursing Orderly) 18 to 27 years 10th class pass from a recognized Board; First Aid certificate from St. John's Ambulance Organisation or Red Cross Society of India; and minimum one year working experience as Nursing Orderly in a 50-bedded Hospital or Institution recognized by Central or State Government.

Selection Process - SSB Constable 2026

The selection process for SSB Constable Recruitment 2026 has four stages. All stages are mandatory unless specifically exempted (e.g., Ex-Servicemen are exempt from PET).

Stage I: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST)

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

  • Male candidates: 4.8 Km race in 24 minutes
  • Female candidates: 2.4 Km race in 18 minutes
  • Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PET but must appear in PST, written exam, skill test and medical.

Stage II: Written Examination (CBT)

  • Type: Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Number of Questions: 100 Multiple Choice Objective Type
  • Subjects: General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning and General English / General Hindi
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: 50% for UR, EWS, OBC and Ex-Servicemen; 45% for SC and ST
  • Final merit for all posts will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in written examination only.

Stage III: Documentation and Skill Test

  • A shortlist of up to 20 times the number of vacancies (category wise) will be called for documentation and skill test after written examination.
  • Skill Test will be of 50 marks. Minimum qualifying marks are 60% for all candidates including SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Ex-Servicemen.
  • Trade test is qualifying in nature and marks will not be counted in the final merit list.
  • All original documents must be produced at documentation stage. Failure to produce documents will lead to cancellation of candidature.

Stage IV: Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Review Medical Examination (RME)

  • Candidates up to 3 times the number of vacancies (category wise) will be called for DME after written exam merit.
  • DME will be conducted as per Revised Medical Guidelines dated 20.05.2015 issued by ADG Medical CAPF.
  • Candidates declared unfit in DME can apply for Review Medical Examination (RME). Decision of RME Board is final.
  • Being declared fit in medical examination does not give any right or legal claim for final appointment.

Final Selection

The final selection list is prepared on the basis of merit in written examination, category wise, after completion of Review Medical Examination. In case of tie in marks, the candidate senior in age will be ranked higher. If date of birth is also the same, alphabetical order of names in English (dictionary pattern) will be used.

  2. Click on the Apply Online link for SSB Constable Recruitment 2026 and select the post you want to apply for. Remember, you can apply for only one post.
  3. Fill in Part-I of the application form with personal details including your name (as in Matriculation certificate), father's/husband's name, mother's name, date of birth, gender, nationality, religion, marital status, category, Aadhaar number, mobile number and email ID.
  4. Upload your passport size photograph in JPG format (less than 12 KB and greater than 4 KB, 100x120 pixels, white background, 75% face visible) and your signature in JPG format (less than 12 KB and greater than 4 KB, 140x60 pixels).
  5. Pay the application fee of Rs 100 through net banking, credit card, debit card or UPI. SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen and female candidates are exempted from fee payment.
  6. Submit the application form after verifying all details. Note down your registration number and take a printout of the acknowledgement for future reference. Application can be edited till the closing date.

General Rules and Instructions

  • A candidate can apply for only one post.
  • No TA/DA will be paid to candidates appearing in the recruitment tests.
  • Unemployed SC/ST candidates appearing in written test will be reimbursed fare as per relevant rules subject to production of Rail/Bus tickets, original caste certificate and Non-Employment certificate.
