Eligibility Criteria - SBI PO 2026

Age Limit (as on 01 April 2026)

• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Maximum Age: 30 years
• Born not later than 01.04.2005 and not earlier than 02.04.1996 (both days inclusive)

Age Relaxation

Educational Qualification (as on 30 September 2026)

• Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university or equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
• Final year / semester students may apply provisionally. They must submit proof of passing graduation on or before 30 September 2026 if called for interview.
• Candidates with Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) must ensure date of passing is on or before 30 September 2026.
• Candidates with Medical, Engineering, CA, or Cost Accountant qualifications are also eligible.

Number of Permissible Chances

Note: Appearing in the Main Examination counts as one chance. Appearing in the Preliminary Examination alone does not count as a chance.

Selection Process - SBI PO 2026

The selection for SBI Probationary Officer 2026 is done through a three-phase process.

Phase-I: Online Preliminary Examination

• No sectional cut-off in Preliminary Exam.
• Top 10 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) will be shortlisted for Main Examination.

Phase-II: Online Main Examination

Objective Test (200 Marks, 3 Hours):

Descriptive Test (30 Marks, 30 Minutes):

• Email writing (1 out of 2 options)
• Situation Analysis (1 out of 2 options)
• Report Writing or Precis Writing (any 1 out of 2 options)

Grand Total: 230 marks | 3 Hours 30 Minutes

Penalty for Wrong Answers: 1/4th of marks assigned to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer. No penalty for unattempted questions. This rule applies to both Preliminary and Main Examination.

Phase-III: Psychometric Test, Group Exercise & Personal Interview

• Psychometric Test: Conducted for personality profiling. All questions are mandatory.
• Group Exercise: Maximum 20 marks
• Personal Interview: Maximum 30 marks
• Phase-III Total: 50 marks

Final Merit Calculation

Phase-I (Preliminary Exam) marks are not counted in the final merit list.

Joining, Training & Career Path

• Selected candidates must complete an online basic banking knowledge course before joining.
• At the time of joining, candidates must execute a bond of Rs. 2.00 Lakh to serve the Bank for a minimum period of 3 years. The bond will be invoked if the candidate resigns before 3 years.
• On joining, candidates will be designated as Probationary Officers on probation for 2 years.
• Upon clearing the probation assessment, candidates will be confirmed in Junior Management Grade Scale-I.

How to Apply for SBI PO 2026

Candidates can apply online only. No other mode of application is accepted. Online registration is open from 18 June 2026 to 08 July 2026.

1. Visit the official SBI Career website at sbi.bank.in and look for Advertisement No. CRPD/PO/2026-27/09.
2. Before filling the form, scan and keep ready your recent passport-size photograph (20-50 KB), signature (10-20 KB), left-hand thumb impression (20-50 KB), and hand-written declaration (50-100 KB) in JPG/JPEG format as per the given specifications.
3. Click on the Online Application Form link under 'Current Openings', register yourself, and fill in all personal, educational, and category details carefully.
4. Upload your photograph, signature, left-hand thumb impression, and hand-written declaration as specified. Also capture and upload a live photograph through webcam or mobile phone during registration.
5. Review the complete application form carefully before final submission. No changes or corrections will be allowed after the form is finally submitted.
6. Pay the application fee online (Rs. 750 for General/OBC/EWS; Nil for SC/ST/PwBD) using debit card, credit card, internet banking, or UPI through the integrated payment gateway.
7. After successful fee payment, an e-receipt and application form will be generated. Take a printout and save it for future reference. The last date to apply is 08 July 2026.
