Only full-time experience gained after obtaining the minimum essential qualification is counted. Part-time, honorary, internship, freelance, consultancy and similar engagements are not considered, and school or undergraduate teaching is not treated as relevant. Experience must be in a Government body, PSU, recognized research or academic institution, or a reputed private organization. Private sector candidates are eligible only if their company has an annual turnover of at least Rs. 500 Crores.

Candidates in regular Government or PSU employment need at least two years of service in the next lower pay scale. Experience proof requires an experience letter on letterhead, a separate document detailing roles and responsibilities, and any two supporting documents such as a pay slip, increment letter, PF statement or appointment letter.

Age Limit

The age is counted as on 14/11/2026 and must match the Matriculation or 10th certificate. The limits below already include category relaxations.

Post Upper Age Limit (Years)
Superintending Research Scientist UR 37, OBC (NCL) 40, SC 42

Benefits include HRA or company accommodation, free medical cover for self and dependents, gratuity, PF, house building and vehicle loans, and group insurance. Grade B officers other than Senior Accounts Officer join under the Scheme for Induction Level Engineers/Officers on Probation, starting at Rs. 60,000. All posts carry a one-year probation.

Selection Process

Grade C and Grade B Posts

Selection has two phases. The Computer Based Test carries 100 marks, with qualifying marks of 50 for UR, OBC (NCL) and EWS and 40 for SC, ST and PwBD. Candidates are called for the Personal Interview in a 1:5 ratio. The interview carries 15 marks with no qualifying minimum. The final score is the CBT marks multiplied by 0.85, plus the interview marks out of 15.

Grade A Posts

The Computer Based Test of 100 marks is followed by a Proficiency Test or Skill Test for the shortlisted candidates in a 1:2 ratio. The skill test needs 50 out of 100 to qualify but carries no weightage, so the merit list depends only on CBT marks. Confidential Secretary is tested on shorthand and transcription. Hindi Officer is tested on translation, essay writing, computer application and bilingual typing.

The CBT runs for 1 hour 30 minutes, and PwBD candidates get compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour. Selected candidates must also clear a pre-employment medical examination.
