Educational qualifications and experience shall be as per Schedule E of the NIT Statute, published in the Gazette of India on 24th July 2017. Department-wise minimum eligibility is as follows:

- Age and qualifications are calculated as on the closing date of application.
- Fresh appointment beyond 60 years of age is generally discouraged.
- Candidates with exceptional research, industrial, or academic career may be considered beyond this age.
Other Eligibility Conditions
- All degrees must be from UGC/AICTE/AIU recognized institutions.
