Note: A Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of Rs. 4,000 for Diploma Apprentices and Rs. 4,500 for Graduate Apprentices is provided by the Government of India under the NATS scheme. Other Eligibility Conditions
- Candidate must be an Indian citizen.
- Candidates awaiting results of the qualifying exam are not eligible.
- Candidates who have already completed 1 year or more of apprenticeship training are not eligible.
- The degree/diploma/ITI must be from a recognized institute or university.
- Candidates must be medically fit as per provisions of the Apprentice Act 1961.
Selection Process – NHPC Apprentice Vacancy 2026
There is no interview for NHPC Apprentice 2026. Selection is based entirely on merit drawn from academic marks as per the following weightage:

Preference Order in Selection
- First Priority: Candidates from Project Affected Families of the respective Project/Power Station.
- Second Priority: Candidates from the concerned district(s) of the State/UT where the Project is located.
- Third Priority: Candidates from the State/UT where the Project is located.
- Fourth Priority: Candidates from other States/UTs, based on merit.
Physical & Medical Standards
The selected apprentice must produce a medical fitness certificate as per the provisions of the Apprentices Act 1961. The standard of physical fitness will be as per Schedule-II of Apprentices Rule, 1992 and any amendments thereto.
Terms and Conditions – NHPC Apprentice Engagement 2026
- Training Duration: 1 year, extendable up to 2 years as per Apprentice Act 1961.
- Accommodation: Shared bachelor accommodation may be provided. If not provided, Rs. 2,500 per month extra will be paid.
- Leave Entitlement:
- 1 day Casual Leave per completed month (max 12 days/year)
- 15 days Medical Leave on production of medical certificate
- 20 days Extra Ordinary Leave (EOL) after exhausting Casual and Medical Leave
- Working Hours: Normal NHPC office timings; weekly off and holidays applicable as per NHPC norms.
- No employment guarantee: Apprenticeship training does not guarantee any job in NHPC.
- Intellectual Property: Any invention or work created during training will be the sole property of NHPC.
- Termination: NHPC reserves the right to terminate apprenticeship for reasons such as absenteeism, misconduct, poor performance, or policy violations.

- Step 1 – Register on NAPS or NATS Portal: ITI trade candidates must register on the NAPS portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in. Graduate and Diploma candidates must register on the NATS portal at nats.education.gov.in. Complete your profile and upload all required documents.
- Step 2 – Note Your Registration Number: After completing registration on NAPS or NATS, note your enrolment or registration number. This number is mandatory for applying on the NHPC website.
- Step 3 – Visit NHPC Official Website: Go to nhpcindia.com and navigate to Career Section, then click on Engagement of Apprentice and select Apply Now.
- Step 4 – Fill the Online Application Form: Enter all required details including personal information, educational qualifications, NAPS/NATS registration number, and preferred location or trade. Apply for only one region or trade.
- Step 5 – Upload Required Documents: Upload scanned copies of NAPS/NATS registration form, educational certificates and mark sheets, proof of age (Matriculation Certificate), caste certificate if applicable, recent passport-sized photograph, and signature.
- Step 6 – Submit Before Last Date: Submit the completed application form before 06 May 2026 by 05:00 PM. After submission, accept the offer through your registered email and sign the contract on the NAPS or NATS portal when intimated.
