Educational Qualification
- Candidate must have passed the Matriculation (Class 10) Examination with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a Board of School Education recognized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
- Candidates who received grades in their matriculation certificate must convert them into marks as per the conversion formula approved by their respective board. A copy of the officially promulgated conversion formula must be uploaded. In the absence of this, candidature will be cancelled.
- Candidates must also hold a valid Music Certificate (Degree / Diploma / Grade / Certificate of Competitions) to be considered for shortlisting.

- Candidates should be born between 01 July 2004 and 31 December 2008 (both dates inclusive).
Marital Status
- Only unmarried male and unmarried female candidates are eligible.
- Candidates must give a certificate of being "unmarried" at the time of enrolment.
- Agniveers are not permitted to marry during their entire 4-year tenure. A candidate found married or who marries during the tenure will be dismissed from service.
Musical Ability
- The candidate must have proficiency and aptitude for music with accuracy in tempo, pitch, and singing one complete song.
- Must have actual practical skill on any instrument of Indian or foreign origin — including proficiency in tuning, matching unknown notes, prepared piece, sight reading of Indian Classical / Tabulature / Staff Notation, performance of Scale / Raaga / Taala, and basic theory of Indian or International music.

Candidates must have proficiency on one or more of the following types of instruments:
- Keyboard instruments
- String instruments
- Wind instruments
- Any other instrument of Indian or foreign origin
Not Eligible: Candidates performing on indefinite pitch instruments such as Jazz Drum set, Bass Drum, Snare Drums, Side Drums, Cymbals, Non-Chromatic instruments such as bugle, and monotone instruments used to produce only one note or drone are NOT eligible for recruitment.
Musical Experience Certificate Requirements
- Candidates performing Hindustani or Carnatic Classical music on wind instruments must have a musical experience certificate from any recognized musical institute or organization of repute.
- Candidates performing western notation or western music on wind instruments must have a certificate of minimum initial grade from international boards such as Trinity College of Music, London or Royal School of Music, London.
- All other candidates must submit certificates of participation / awards presented at various events.

Other Benefits
- Seva Nidhi: On completion of 4 years, Agniveers will receive the total Corpus Fund (candidate contribution + matching Government contribution) — approximately Rs. 10.04 lakh tax-exempt as Seva Nidhi.
- Allowances: Risk and hardship allowance, dress allowance, and travel allowance in addition to monthly package.
- Leave: 30 days leave per year + sick leave as per medical advice.
- Life Insurance: Non-contributory Life Insurance Cover of Rs. 48 lakh for the entire engagement period.
- Death Compensation: In addition to the Rs. 48 lakh insurance, a one-time ex-gratia of Rs. 44 lakh for death attributable to service will be provided to the Next of Kin (NOK).

Opportunity for Permanent Enrolment
- On completion of 4 years, up to 25% of each batch of Agniveers may be offered permanent enrolment as Sailors (Regular Cadre) in the Indian Navy.
- Selection for further enrolment will be based on objective criteria including performance during the 4-year engagement period.
- Agniveers do not have a right to be selected for further enrolment. It is at the sole discretion of the Indian Navy.
Selection Process – Navy Agniveer MR Musician 02/2026
The final selection is based on performance in the Music Ability Test (MAT). The complete selection process is as follows:
Stage 1 – Shortlisting
- Shortlisting is based on marks obtained in the Matriculation examination on all India merit.
- Only candidates holding valid music certificates (Degree / Diploma / Grade / Certificate of Competitions) will be considered for shortlisting.
- In case of a tie in matriculation percentage, candidates with an earlier date of birth (i.e., having fewer chances for recruitment) will be given preference.
Stage 2 – Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
Qualifying PFT is mandatory for all shortlisted candidates. PFT standards are as follows:

Note: Candidates undergo PFT at their own risk. Proficiency in sports, swimming, and extra-curricular activities is desirable.
Stage 3 – Written Examination
- Only candidates who qualify PFT will appear in the Written Examination.
- The written exam consists of 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each carrying 1 mark.
- Duration: 30 minutes.
- The question paper is bilingual (Hindi and English).
- The paper has two sections: Science and Mathematics and General Awareness.
- Standard of the question paper: Class 10 level.
- Candidates must pass in both sections as well as in aggregate. The Indian Navy reserves the right to determine the pass marks in each section and in aggregate.
- All candidates scoring 13 marks and above out of 50 (i.e. more than 25%) will be selected for the Music Ability Test.

Stage 4 – Music Ability Test (MAT)
- All candidates who qualify both PFT and Written Examination will appear in the Music Ability Test.
- The final selection and merit list is based solely on performance in the Music Ability Test.
Stage 5 – Recruitment Medical Examination
- Medical examination is conducted for candidates who qualify both MAT and PFT.
- Candidates found medically unfit may appeal within 5 days at the designated Military Hospital allocated by the Indian Navy.
- Medical fitness certificates from any other hospital will not be considered.
- No further review or appeal is permissible beyond this.
Merit List and Result
- The final merit list is compiled on all India basis, based on performance in the Music Ability Test.
- Result will be published on the candidate's dashboard at joinindiannavy.gov.in by early July 2026.
Medical Standards – Navy Agniveer MR Musician 02/2026
- Medical examination will be conducted by authorized military doctors as per prescribed medical standards.
- Minimum Height: 157 cm for both male and female candidates.
- Visual Standards: Uncorrected Vision 6/12, 6/12 | Corrected Vision 6/6, 6/6 | Colour Perception: CP Pass.
- Tattoos: Permanent body tattoos are permitted only on the inner face of forearms (inside of elbow to wrist) and on the reversed/back (dorsal) side of hand only. Tattoos on any other part of the body will result in disqualification.
- The candidate must be in good physical and mental health, free from any disease or disability.
- Any candidate found to be pregnant (female) will be disqualified. Candidates must not conceive during the 4-year tenure.
