Eligibility Criteria
Educational and Technical Qualification
- A degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification
- A shorthand speed of 120 words per minute in English
- Working knowledge of computers, including software such as Microsoft Office, Excel or Page-Makers
Age Limit
The upper age limit for all candidates is 35 years. Standard age relaxation, as per instructions issued by the Central Government from time to time, is available to Government servants and to SC, ST and OBC candidates. The crucial date for calculating age is the 30th day from the date the advertisement is published in the Employment News, and this same crucial date also applies to candidates from Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, the Union Territory of Ladakh, the Lahaul and Spiti district, the Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh, and the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands or Lakshadweep.
Selection Process
Recruitment will be carried out through a Written Examination, a Skill Test and a Personal Interview, in that order. Only candidates who clear the Written Examination move on to the Skill Test, and only those shortlisted after the Skill Test are called for the Personal Interview.

The Written Examination and Skill Test are conducted only in English, at 9 designated stations: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Guwahati, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad. Applicants must choose two of these centers in order of preference; if a center does not receive enough applications, ITAT may cancel it and shift affected candidates to their second-choice center.

No travelling allowance or dearness allowance is payable for appearing in any of the three stages. However, SC and ST candidates who are not already employed with a Central or State Government body, corporation, public sector undertaking, or local body are entitled to reimbursement of second class ordinary or sleeper class railway fare, or bus fare by the shortest route, on production of tickets.

General Rules
Applications that are incomplete, unsupported by self-attested documents, missing relevant category certificates, or submitted by applicants with a pending criminal case will be rejected outright. Any candidate found resorting to malpractice or canvassing will also have their candidature rejected. ITAT's decision on eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications, and the mode of selection is final, and no correspondence on these matters will be entertained.
Selected candidates will be on probation for 2 years from the date of joining and may be posted at any Bench of the ITAT across the country. All communication regarding discrepancies, admit cards and interview call letters will be sent only through email, so candidates are advised to check their registered email and the official ITAT website regularly.
