Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

The candidate must be an unmarried male and must be one of the following:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia) or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Candidates from Nepal (other than Gorkha subjects) and categories above must have an Eligibility Certificate issued by the Government of India.

Candidate should not be born before 01 July 2007 and not after 01 July 2010 (both days inclusive).

Important: Only the date of birth as recorded in the Class 10 Matriculation certificate will be accepted. No other document for age proof is valid.

Educational Qualification

  • Passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised board with minimum 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM)
  • Must have appeared in JEE (Mains) 2026 - this is mandatory
  • PCM percentage is calculated based on Class XII marks only
  • Candidates must enter exact PCM percentage up to two decimal places - rounding off is not allowed

Marital Status

Only unmarried male candidates are eligible. Candidates must undertake not to marry until they complete the full 4-year training. Marriage during training will result in discharge and recovery of training costs from the candidate.

Selected candidates undergo 4 years (3+1) of pre-commissioning training at the following academies:

Salary and Pay Structure

Selection Process

The Indian Army TES-56 selection process follows these stages:

  1. Online Application - Submit application on joinindianarmy.nic.in
  2. Shortlisting - Based on JEE Mains 2026 Common Rank List (CRL). Cut-off tentatively in first week of July 2026
  3. SSB Interview - 5-day interview at Prayagraj (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka), or Jalandhar (Punjab). Includes psychological test, Group Testing Officer assessment, and personal interview
  4. Medical Examination - At nearest Military Hospital for SSB-recommended candidates
  5. Merit List - Prepared on the basis of SSB marks only. NCC background, higher qualifications, etc. have no role
  6. Joining Letter - Issued to medically fit candidates as per vacancies and merit

Stage I candidates who fail are returned on the same day. Only Stage I cleared candidates proceed to Stage II. SSB dates are tentatively scheduled between August and September 2026.

How to Apply for Indian Army TES-56 Recruitment 2026

  1. Visit the official Indian Army recruitment website at joinindianarmy.nic.in.
  2. Click on the 'Online Application' button on the homepage.
  3. Register yourself and fill in all required personal, educational and JEE Mains 2026 details accurately. Enter PCM percentage up to two decimal places without rounding off.
  4. Read all terms and conditions carefully before submitting the form.
  5. Submit the online application before the closing date of 12 June 2026 at 1200 hours.
  6. After submission, take two printouts of the application form with the system-generated Roll Number. Self-attest one copy and carry it to the SSB interview along with original documents.
  7. Carry all required documents to the SSB interview: Class 10th certificate (with DOB), Class 12th pass certificate and mark sheet, valid ID proof, copy of JEE Mains 2026 result, and 20 self-attested passport-size photographs.

Important: Candidates must submit only one application. Multiple applications from the same candidate will result in cancellation of candidature. DigiLocker certificates are not accepted in place of original certificates unless the school/college certifies that only e-certificates have been issued.

Army Group Insurance (Life Insurance)

  • After stipend starts, Gentleman Cadets are insured for Rs. 1.25 Crore at a monthly subscription of Rs. 12,500
  • For disability due to invaliding by IMB: Rs. 25 Lakh for 100% disability, proportionately reduced to Rs. 5 Lakh for 20% disability
