Eligibility Conditions
Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University, and should possess a minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi on computer. Knowledge of the customs, manners, and dialects of Himachal Pradesh, along with suitability for appointment under local conditions, is desirable.
Domicile-Related Eligibility
Candidates must have passed Matriculation and 10+2 from a school or institution situated within Himachal Pradesh. This condition does not apply to Bonafide Himachalis.
Age Limit
The minimum age is 18 years and the maximum age is 45 years, and will be reckoned as on 01.01.2026. Age relaxation of up to 5 years is available to candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Other Backward Classes who are domiciles of Himachal Pradesh, Persons with Disabilities, employees of the Himachal Pradesh Government, and Ex-servicemen of Himachal Pradesh, as permissible under the general or special orders of the Department of Personnel.
Pay Scale
Selected candidates will be engaged as Job Trainee and will receive a consolidated fixed amount of Rs. 12,500 per month, as per the Job Trainee Scheme-2025 notified by the Department of Personnel.
Selection Process
- Computer Based Test (CBT) or written screening test of 120 marks, to be held for a duration of one and a half hours.
- Typing skill test for shortlisted candidates, which is qualifying in nature at the prescribed speed standard.
The number of candidates called for the typing test will be five times the number of posts advertised if that number is less than 30, or 150 candidates if the advertised posts are between 30 and 40 inclusive.
The minimum qualifying marks are 45% for General category candidates and 40% for SC, ST, OBC, and Ward of Freedom Fighters candidates. If the number of qualified candidates is less than the number of advertised posts, HPRCA may relax the qualifying percentage by up to 5%, that is, to 40% for General category and 35% for SC, ST, OBC, and Ward of Freedom Fighters candidates. In case of multiple shifts, scores will be normalized using the Z-Score (Mean and Standard Deviation) method.
Exam Pattern and Syllabus
The objective type screening test will consist of 120 multiple-choice questions, with each question carrying 1 mark. The subjects covered include:
- General Knowledge, including General Knowledge of Himachal Pradesh, and Current Affairs
- Everyday Science, Logical Reasoning, Social Science, General English, and General Hindi of Matriculation standard
- Word Processing on computer

General Rules
- The candidate must be registered on the One Time Registration (OTR) portal before filling the online application.
