Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Applicants must hold an Engineering Graduation degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation, completed on or after 01-09-2023. Candidates who completed their engineering degree before this date are not eligible for this apprenticeship. Candidates belonging to UR and OBC-NC categories need a minimum of 60 percent aggregate marks across all semesters or years, while SC/ST/PwBD (VH/HH/OH/MD) candidates need a minimum of 50 percent aggregate marks. All qualifications must be recognized by the Board of Technical Education, UGC, AICTE or an equivalent authority.

Where a degree is awarded in CGPA, GPA or letter grade, the equivalent percentage as per the university or institute's own conversion norms must be indicated in the application, and a supporting certificate must be obtained for document verification. Where no official conversion is available, the percentage is calculated by dividing total marks obtained by total marks across all semesters or years, and the resulting fraction is not rounded up; for example, 49.99 percent is treated as less than 50 percent.

Age Limit

Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years and a maximum of 25 years of age as on 31-07-2026. Age relaxation of 5 years is available for SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC-NC candidates, and 10 years for PwBD candidates, as per government guidelines and the Apprentices Act, 1961.

Other Eligibility Conditions

  • Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must be registered and approved on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS 2.0) web portal and by the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT).
  • Candidates who have an existing apprenticeship contract with any other organization on the NATS Portal are not eligible to apply. Any existing contract found after engagement will lead to cancellation of candidature and termination of the apprenticeship without payment of stipend.
  • Candidates with one year or more of work experience are not eligible to apply.

Monthly Stipend

Selected Graduate Apprentice Trainees (Engineering) will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 25,000. Of this amount, Rs 20,500 will be paid by HPCL and Rs 4,500 will be paid directly to apprentices by the Government of India under the DBT scheme. HPCL is not obligated to provide housing assistance or any other allowance beyond this fixed stipend.

Selection Process

Applications will be screened based on the merit percentage of marks according to the eligibility criteria and the qualification prescribed for each engineering trade, against the number of training slots notified in the advertisement. Incomplete or ineligible applications will be summarily rejected without intimation.

Candidates will be called for document and certificate verification in order of merit, in a ratio of 1:5 with respect to the notified training slots. Shortlisted candidates will be informed through their registered email, and no TA/DA will be paid for attending document verification. A merit list will then be prepared based on candidates who report for verification and are found suitable as per eligibility.

Selected candidates will be engaged in merit order after accepting a tri-partite apprenticeship contract on the NATS website and submitting a medical certificate in the prescribed format, along with police verification.
