The AAI Regional Headquarters North Eastern Region has notified 95 apprentice posts across four engineering streams and three ITI trades. The organization has clarified that the number of posts is tentative and can be reduced or increased as per requirement.

Selected apprentices will undergo one year of training at airports notified under the North Eastern Region, which include locations in Assam, Agartala, Imphal, Shillong, Dimapur, Tezu, Lengpui and Hollongi (Itanagar). The allotted airport or station will be final, and no request for a change of training location will be entertained.

Eligibility Criteria

Domicile Requirement

Only Indian nationals who are domiciles of the North Eastern Region are eligible for this apprenticeship, specifically candidates belonging to Assam, Agartala in Tripura, Imphal in Manipur, Shillong in Meghalaya, Dimapur in Nagaland, Lengpui in Mizoram, and Tezu or Hollongi in Arunachal Pradesh.

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for Graduate or Diploma Apprentice posts should possess a full time regular four year degree or three year regular diploma in the relevant engineering stream, recognized by AICTE, Government of India. Candidates applying for ITI Trade Apprentice posts should possess an ITI or NCVT certificate in the relevant trade from an institution recognized by AICTE, Government of India. Only candidates who have passed their Graduate or Diploma qualification in 2024 or after are eligible to apply.

Age Limit

The minimum age for applicants is 18 years and the maximum age is 26 years as on 28 July 2026. Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates as per Government of India guidelines.

Conditions for Engagement as Apprentice

Candidates who have already completed their apprenticeship, or who terminated an apprenticeship midway, or who are currently pursuing an apprenticeship in another organization or in AAI at the same qualification level, are not eligible for this engagement. Similarly, candidates who have gained one year or more of apprenticeship training or job experience after obtaining their essential qualification will not be considered eligible.

Candidates applying for more than one discipline will not be considered, and such applications will be rejected outright.

Selection Process

The AAI NER apprentice selection will proceed through the following stages.

  • Provisional selection will be based on the percentage of marks obtained by candidates in their qualifying examination.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be intimated only through their registered email ID and called for an interview and document verification.
  • Final selection will be based on the interview, verification of certificates, and submission of a Medical Fitness Certificate at the time of joining, which must be obtained only from a Government Medical Officer or a Medical Officer of a Government Undertaking.
  • Selected candidates will be posted preferably at the location in the North Eastern Region corresponding to their registration location on the portal.
