One vacancy for each post is included under the Ex-Serviceman (ESM) category. The Board has also said that the department can raise or lower the number of vacancies, and that the Board has no role in deciding the numbers or the reservation roster.

Who Can Apply

Nationality

Only Indian citizens, as defined in the Constitution of India or under any law made by Parliament on citizenship, can apply.

Educational Qualification

The essential qualification for both posts is Matriculation pass or equivalent from a recognized board. No desirable qualification is listed. A candidate who does not hold the essential qualification on the cut-off date of 11 November 2026 is told not to apply.

Experience

No experience, essential or desirable, is asked for in either post.

Age Limit and Relaxation

The age range is 18 to 27 years, counted as on 1 June 2026. In practice, you must be born on or after 2 June 1999 and on or before 1 June 2008. The date of birth recorded in your Matriculation or Secondary School certificate is the only one the Board will accept, and a later request to change it will not be considered.

Category Relaxation in Upper Age Limit
SC / ST 5 years
OBC 3 years
PwBD with UR / EWS 10 years
PwBD with SC / ST 15 years
PwBD with OBC 13 years
Ex-Servicemen Period of military service plus 3 years, up to a maximum age of 55 years
Government Employees No relaxation, as the District Courts Rules, 2012 have no such provision

Age relaxation for PwBD candidates applies whether or not the post is reserved, provided the post has been identified as suitable for the disability. All relaxations follow the rules of the District and Sessions Courts.

Pay Scale

Both posts carry a pay scale of Rs. 5,200-20,200 plus Grade Pay Rs. 2,000, in Group C. The notice states the pay in this form and does not list other allowances.

Application Fee

The fee is Rs. 100 and must be paid through SBI e-pay only. Any other mode of payment is not accepted and the money paid in that way stands forfeited.

  • Women candidates are exempted from the fee.
  • Candidates from SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Serviceman categories are exempted.
  • An Ex-Serviceman who has already got a regular civil job under the Central Government or the Government of NCT of Delhi (or its autonomous or local bodies) after using the ESM reservation does not get the fee concession.
  • The fee is not refunded under any circumstances.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

The selection is a two-stage process for both posts. DSSSB conducts the objective test and sends the shortlisted names to the District and Sessions Courts, Tis Hazari, Delhi, which holds the interview and prepares the final merit list.

Objective Test (MCQ)

Subject Questions Marks
English 25 25
Hindi 25 25
General Knowledge (including Current Affairs) 25 25
Arithmetic 25 25
Total 100 100
  • The test runs for 120 minutes, or 160 minutes for PwD candidates.
  • Questions are bilingual in English and Hindi, except in the English and Hindi language sections.
  • Each question carries 1 mark and every wrong answer costs 0.25 marks.
  • Candidates called for the interview will be at most 10 times the total vacancies. If several candidates tie on equal marks at the cut-off, all of them are called.

Interview

The interview is of 15 marks and is conducted by the office of the Ld. Principal District and Sessions Judge (HQs). There is no minimum qualifying mark in the interview, and the Judge reserves the right to modify or dispense with any stage of the selection process.

Qualifying Marks and Merit

To clear the objective test, UR and EWS candidates need at least 50 percent marks, while OBC (Delhi), SC, ST, PwBD and ESM candidates need at least 45 percent. Final selection depends on the combined marks of the objective test and the interview. If two candidates in the same category have equal marks in merit, the older candidate is placed higher, and if the dates of birth are also the same, the candidate whose first name comes first alphabetically is placed higher.

If the exam is held in more than one shift, marks may be normalized using the formula published by DSSSB in its notice of 11 July 2018. Draft answer keys are displayed on the Board's website after the exam, and objections are accepted only online within the time the Board fixes. There is no re-evaluation or re-checking of answer sheets, and the Board may drop any question and prorate the marks. The notice also says that a skill, endurance or driving test will be taken as per the requirement of the job.

Category Certificates to Keep Ready

Because you must pick your category while filling the form and cannot change it later, the certificate rules deserve a careful read.

OBC Candidates

Only OBC (Delhi) candidates, as notified by the Government of NCT of Delhi, get the benefit of reservation and age relaxation. OBC (Outside) candidates are treated as Unreserved and must apply under the UR category. The OBC certificate must be issued on or before 11 November 2026, and an OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026, but not later than 11 November 2026, is required. Two types of certificates are accepted: an OBC (Delhi) certificate from the Revenue Department of Delhi, or a certificate from a competent authority outside Delhi that was issued on the basis of a Delhi OBC certificate of the candidate's father, siblings or real paternal uncles who had been living in Delhi before 8 September 1993.

EWS Candidates

An EWS claimant needs an Income and Asset certificate valid for the financial year 2026-2027, issued on the basis of income for 2025-2026, and issued on or before 11 November 2026. Appointment under this category is provisional, and a false claim leads to termination and further action.

PwBD Candidates

Only candidates with at least 40 percent benchmark disability qualify for the disability quota and age relaxation. Candidates who have difficulty in writing receive compensatory time as per the orders of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, whether or not they use a scribe. The Sweeper post is marked suitable for blindness and low vision, deaf and hard of hearing, one leg, cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, spinal deformity or injury without neurological or limb dysfunction, autism (mild and moderate), intellectual disability, specific learning disability, mental illness and multiple disabilities. The Chowkidar post has the same list and adds one arm, and one arm and one leg.

Ex-Servicemen

Reservation is available under the rules issued by the Government of India. An Ex-Serviceman who has already taken a regular civil job after using the reservation is not eligible for reservation or fee concession in this recruitment, though the age relaxation can still be used for a higher post or service.

How to Apply

Applications are accepted through the online mode only. Forms sent by post, by hand or by email are not considered. Follow these steps.

  1. Read the full advertisement on the DSSSB vacancies page and confirm that you meet the qualification, age and category conditions for Post Code 46/26 or 47/26.
  2. Register once on the Board's online portal (OARS) if you have not registered earlier, keeping a scanned photo ID of 15 KB to 60 KB in JPG or JPEG format ready, or your Aadhaar number, along with a valid email address and mobile number.
  3. Log in with your registration number and password once the application window opens on 13 October 2026 at 12:00 noon.
  4. Select the post you want and choose your category carefully, because no change of category is allowed after the form is submitted.
  5. Fill in every field of the application form and upload a recent, clear colour photograph with a plain white or off-white background, along with your signature.
  6. Pay the Rs. 100 application fee through SBI e-pay if you are not in an exempted category.
  7. Check the preview, submit the form on or before 11 November 2026 at 11:00 PM, and keep a printout of the submitted application.

The Board advises candidates not to wait for the last days, since heavy load on the website near the deadline can cause login or submission failures, and the Board does not take responsibility for such cases.

Documents Required

You do not upload every certificate with the form. Copies of supporting documents are asked for only when shortlisted candidates are called to upload an e-dossier, and a candidate who misses the upload window is not given another chance. Keep these ready.

  • Matriculation or Secondary School certificate showing your qualification and date of birth
  • Photo identity proof (PAN Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License or Passport), or your Aadhaar number, for registration
  • A recent colour photograph and your signature, clear and not blurred
  • OBC (Delhi) Non-Creamy Layer, EWS Income and Asset, disability or Ex-Serviceman documents, as applicable to your claim

Rules Worth Knowing Before You Submit

  • Only one registration is allowed per candidate, and only one application per post code. Duplicates lead to rejection, and appearing in the exam more than once can lead to a debarment from the Board's examinations.
  • Details such as name, gender and father's name entered at registration cannot be edited later, and a submitted application form cannot be corrected.
  • Candidature is provisional at every stage. The scrutiny of e-dossiers is done by the user department, and a false or unproven claim leads to cancellation.
  • The exam centres will be in Delhi/NCR and other states as decided by the Board, and requests to change the date, time or centre are not accepted.
  • Calculators, phones, Bluetooth devices, earbuds, smart watches and metallic items are not allowed in the exam centre. The dress code asks for light clothes with half sleeves and slippers or low-heeled sandals, and shoes are not allowed.
  • Corrigenda or addenda, if any, will appear on the Board's website, and the Board says that email and SMS are only additional facilities.
