Important Notes on Qualification
- Engineering Degree / M.Tech / M.Sc. / MCA must be from a University or Institute recognized by appropriate statutory authority in India and must be a regular full-time course.
- Minimum qualifying marks for General (UR), OBC-NCL, and EWS candidates: 60%.
- Minimum qualifying marks for SC, ST, and PwBD candidates: 55% (5% relaxation).
- Rounding of percentage is NOT acceptable. Even 59.99% will not be treated as 60%.
- In case of CGPA/GPA, a conversion certificate from University/Institute must be attached.
- Appearing Candidates: Final year/semester/trimester candidates of academic year 2025-26 are eligible if they expect results by 31 August 2026. They must upload all marksheets up to the latest year/semester.

Selection Process - Coal India MT 2026
Selection will be based entirely on marks obtained in the Computer Based Online Test (CBT). There is no interview for final selection.

Qualifying Marks in CBT

Final merit panel will be prepared based solely on CBT marks. Shortlisted candidates will be called for Document Verification (DV) and Initial Medical Examination (IME). Appointment order will be issued only after successful completion of DV and IME.
For Company Secretary (CS) Discipline: In case of a tie in total marks, preference will be given to candidates who have worked in a listed company.
Service Agreement Bond
- Selected candidates must serve CIL for a minimum of 60 months (5 years) from the date of joining.
- A service agreement bond of Rs. 3 Lakhs must be executed at the time of joining.
- Rs. 5,000/- per month will be deducted from salary towards bond money.
- The amount will be refunded (without interest) after successful completion of 60 months of service.
Reservation and Relaxation Details
- Reservations for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwD/ESM are as per Government of India guidelines.
- PwD reservation is on horizontal basis - minimum 40% disability required.
- OBC-NCL certificate must be issued on or after 01 April 2026 in the latest prescribed format for Central Government jobs.
- OBC candidates belonging to the Creamy Layer are not eligible for OBC-NCL reservation and must apply as General category.
- EWS certificate must be based on family income for FY 2025-26 and valid for 2026-27 (family income below Rs. 8 Lakhs per annum from all sources, and family should not own specified property/land as per GOI norms).
- SC/ST candidates from other states - caste must appear in Central List of SC/ST as notified by GOI.
- CIL/Subsidiary employees have no age limit and are exempt from application fee. They must submit NOC from competent authority.
- Candidates working in Government/PSU/Autonomous bodies must submit NOC at the time of online application or at DV/IME stage.

Step 2 - Register and Login
Complete online registration on the CIL application portal. After registration, login using your credentials to access the online application form.
Step 3 - Fill the Application Form
Fill in all required personal, educational, and category details carefully. Select your discipline/post, choose three preferred test cities in order of preference, and fill in all other mandatory fields. Note that no modifications are allowed after final submission.
Step 4 - Upload Required Documents
Upload scanned copies of your recent passport size colour photograph (JPG, not older than 3 weeks), signature in black ink pen (JPG), and self-attested PDF copies of Matriculation certificate, all marksheets, degree certificate, caste/category certificate as applicable, CGPA conversion certificate if needed, and NOC if currently employed in Government/PSU.
Step 5 - Pay Application Fee and Submit
Pay the application fee of Rs. 1180 (for General/OBC/EWS) online through the payment gateway. SC/ST/PwBD and CIL employees are exempted.
