Nationality / Citizenship

The candidate must be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal, Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01 January 1962 with intent to permanently settle, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or certain East African/other specified countries. A certificate of eligibility from the Government is required for categories (b), (c) and (d).

Educational Qualification

For Clerk:

  • Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university.
  • Proficiency in operation of computer (Word Processing and Spread Sheets).
  • Typing Speed of 35 words per minute in English on Computer.
  • ICT Training Course on Computer (CCC) of 80 hours — to be furnished at the time of Document Verification.

For Steno-Typist:

  • Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university.
  • Proficiency in operation of computer (Word Processing and Spread Sheets).
  • Stenography Skill Test: Dictation 10 Minutes at 80 w.p.m., Transcription 50 minutes on Computer in English.
  • ICT Training Course on Computer (CCC) of 80 hours — to be furnished at the time of Document Verification.

Important: The educational qualification must be declared by the Board/University on or before the closing date. Mere processing of result does not fulfil the qualification requirement.

Selection Process

Selection for Chandigarh Clerk Steno Recruitment 2026 will be done in the following stages:

  • Stage 1: OMR-Based Written Examination (Two papers, 100 marks each, total 200 marks)
  • Stage 2: Typing Test on Computer (for Clerk) / Stenography and Proficiency Test (for Steno-Typist) — Qualifying in nature only

Important Instructions

  • Only one registration/application form per candidate is allowed even if applying for both posts.
  • The written examination will be held in Chandigarh only. If applicants exceed seating capacity, centres may be set up in Mohali and Panchkula.
