Selection Process – BPSSC Home Guard Havildar Instructor Recruitment 2026
The selection process consists of two stages:
Stage 1 – Written Competitive Examination
- Total Marks: 100
- Duration: 2 hours
- Total Questions: 100 objective-type (MCQ) questions
- Marks per correct answer: 1 mark
- Standard: Class X (Matric) level or equivalent of Bihar School Examination Board
- Subjects: Hindi, English, Mathematics, Social Science (History, Geography, Civics, Economics), Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Botany), General Knowledge and Current Affairs
- OMR/Answer booklet: Two copies – one invisible carbon copy will be kept safe by the Commission for 1 year after the final merit list is published.
- Candidates scoring less than 30% in the written exam will be declared failed for the Physical Efficiency Test.
- Important: Written exam is only qualifying in nature. Final merit list will NOT be based on written exam marks.
- Based on written exam marks, category-wise candidates in a ratio of 1:5 (5 times vacancies per category) will be shortlisted for Physical Efficiency Test.

Total marks: 100. Candidates must qualify all three events separately.

Note: Maximum 3 attempts are given for Shot Put and High Jump. Candidates who complete the run within time are eligible for Shot Put and High Jump. Failing to meet minimum standards in any one event results in overall disqualification.
Merit List and Final Selection – BPSSC Home Guard Havildar Instructor 2026
- Final merit list will be prepared based on total marks scored in all three PET events (Run + Shot Put + High Jump).
- In case of a tie in PET marks, preference will be given to the older candidate (Date of Birth basis).
- If Date of Birth is also the same, the candidate with higher educational qualification will be placed higher.
- If educational qualification is also the same, preference will be given to the candidate with higher marks in the qualifying exam (Intermediate or equivalent).
- If still tied, the order will be determined by English alphabetical order of names as per Class X certificate.
