Who Can Apply
Only one dependent family member of Assam Rifles personnel who were:
- Killed in Action
- Died while in Service
- Discharged from Service on Medical Grounds
- Missing while in Service
are eligible to apply for this Compassionate Ground Appointment Recruitment 2026.

Note: Pregnancy at the time of RFID Based Physical Efficiency Test (PET) will be considered a disqualification and pregnant female candidates shall be rejected at this stage.
Selection Process
The selection process for Assam Rifles Compassionate Ground Appointment 2026 consists of the following stages:
- Stage 1: RFID Based Physical Standard Test (PST)
- Stage 2: RFID Based Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Stage 3: Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test
- Stage 4: Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
- Stage 5: Document Verification
- Final: Merit List and Call for Training based on position in Merit List and availability of vacancies
Important: Candidates applying under the Compassionate Ground Appointment Scheme are exempted from Written Exam Test.
Merely qualifying in all tests does not guarantee Final Selection. Final selection is based only on Merit List position and availability of vacancies.
Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test
- Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test will be conducted for all Tech & Trades before undergoing Detailed Medical Examination (DME).
- Candidates will be assessed as Pass or Fail in the Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test.
- Candidates applying for General Duty are not required to undergo any Computer Based Trade (Skill) Test.
Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
- DME will be conducted as per the Guidelines issued by ADG (Medical) for CAPFs, NSG & AR dated 20 May 2015.
- Candidates must not have knock knees, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes etc.
- Candidates are advised to have these conditions checked before and under own arrangements to avoid disappointment at DME stage.
- Decision on medical fitness by Assam Rifles Medical authority is final and binding.
- Candidates having Tattoos will be considered as per following instructions:
- Content: Tattoos depicting religious symbols or figures are to be respected. Same as in Indian Army.
- Location: Tattoos marked on inner face of forearm only (left forearm); no saluting limb or dorsum of hands.
- Size: Must be less than 1/4 of the particular part (Elbow or Hand).
How to Apply for Assam Rifles Compassionate Ground Appointment 2026
Eligible candidates can apply offline or via email. Follow these steps to submit your application:
- Download the official notification PDF from the Assam Rifles official website assamrifles.gov.in and read all instructions carefully.
- Download the application form (Part-A and Undertaking Certificate) as per the format given in the notification Appendix.
- Fill in all required details in the application form including personal information, educational qualifications, details of the deceased/retired government servant, and the post applied for.
- Attach self-attested copies of educational certificates, domicile certificate, caste certificate, diploma/ITI/technical certificate (as applicable), and one xerox copy of photo ID such as AADHAAR, PAN/Voter ID, or Driving License.
- Also attach the Undertaking Certificate regarding Compassionate Ground Appointment for dependent family members, duly countersigned by a Gazetted Officer or Village Pradhan/Sarpanch.
- Send the complete application by speed post to: Directorate General Assam Rifles (Recruitment Branch), Laitkor, Shillong, Meghalaya - 793010. You may also email scanned copies to rectbrdgar@gmail.com before the last date.
- Ensure the application reaches the office on or before 11 May 2026. Applications received after the last date will be rejected without any reason.
Important Rules and Instructions
- All candidates must carry Original certificates at the time of reporting for recruitment rally.
- Educational certificates other than Central Board/State Board must be accompanied with Government notification declaring the equivalence.
- Date of Birth as recorded in the Matriculation certificate will only be accepted for determining the age.
- Vacancies are tentative and may increase or decrease.
- Candidates must undergo Physical Fitness Test at own risk and expense. Injuries including fatal due to test during recruitment rally will not be compensated in any manner.
- Candidates not in possession of requisite documents will not be permitted to attend the recruitment rally.
- All certificates like Education/Permanent Residence/Nativity/Domicile/Caste etc submitted by candidates during Rect Rally are subjected for verification. In case of fake/forged documents/certificates are found, FIR will be lodged for fraudulent enrolment and candidature will be handed over to the State Police.
- Selection of candidates will be PROVISIONAL even after passing successive stages of screening for recruitment till completion of all the pre-enrolment validation and verification.
- Candidates Provisionally Selected will be covered under New Pension Scheme (NPS).
- Overcrowding: Only candidates will be permitted to enter Rect Rally Site. Parents/friends are advised NOT to accompany candidates.
- Candidates must carry one photo bearing ID proof i.e. PAN/AADHAAR/Voter ID/Driving license matching details in other documents submitted by candidates.
