Who Can Apply and Why PET-2025 Matters

This is a mains-stage notification, not a fresh entry point. The Commission allows only those candidates to apply who hold the required qualification for a post and who appeared in the Preliminary Eligibility Test 2025 and received a PET-2025 scorecard. Your login for the online form is your PET-2025 registration number, and the OTP goes to the mobile number or email you registered at that stage.

Shortlisting for the written exam is also based on your PET-2025 normalised score. A candidate with a zero or negative absolute or normalised score will not be shortlisted. Candidates whose PET-2025 cases are marked under investigation or provisional can apply provisionally, but their shortlisting and selection stay subject to the outcome of the Commission's inquiry.

1 Technical Assistant (Mechanical) (Special Selection) 21 years 40 years 1 July of the year the vacancies are advertised
2 Instructor (Machine) 18 years 40 years 1 July of the year the vacancies are advertised

7 Assistant District Panchayat Raj Officer (Technical) 21 years 40 years 1 July of the recruitment year

Because this notification was published in October, the 1 July reference date applies to the UPSRTC posts as well. For SC, ST and other categories the government notifies from time to time, the upper age limit is raised by the number of years specified in the rules. For UPSRTC posts, candidates who already work in the Corporation get five more years on the upper limit. State government employees are allowed five years of relaxation in the maximum age, and researchers under the Chief Minister Fellowship get age and preference relaxation under the 2026 rules the notification cites. The exact number of relaxation years for each category is not printed in the notification.

Reservation and Certificate Rules

  • Reservation for SC, ST, OBC and EWS applies as per the Uttar Pradesh government orders in force. Candidates who are not original residents of Uttar Pradesh do not get reservation benefits and are treated as unreserved.
  • EWS candidates get 10 percent reservation. Family income from all sources in the financial year before the year of application must be below Rs. 8 lakh. The EWS certificate must be issued between 1 April 2026 and 25 November 2026, based on 2025-26 income and valid for 2026-27, in the format of the Personnel Department office memorandum dated 14 March 2019.
  • Caste certificates must be issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format, on or before the date of application or the last date. A candidate claiming more than one reservation gets only the one that benefits more.
  • For women of Uttar Pradesh, the caste certificate issued on the father's side is the one that counts, and they are placed in the same category they belong to.
  • Persons with disabilities need a certificate in the latest format from the competent authority showing the type and percentage of disability. The Commission has re-identified posts to give 4 percent horizontal reservation in groups A, B, C and D, so disabled candidates must update their disability category and sub-category in the form.
  • Ex-servicemen must have retired from service by 25 November 2026. Dependents of freedom fighters and ex-servicemen get reservation under the Uttar Pradesh Public Services (Reservation for Physically Handicapped, Dependents of Freedom Fighters and Ex-Servicemen) Act, 1993.
  • Outstanding sportspersons from Uttar Pradesh must present a certificate in the prescribed format issued by the competent authority.

Selection Process

Selection for these posts rests on a written examination. The Commission follows a two-stage system in which the PET-2025 comes first and the mains exam second. The notification lists the exam plan approved by the government on 30 June 2026 and states that the exam date will be announced in due course.

How Candidates Are Shortlisted

For every category, candidates up to 15 times the number of vacancies advertised for a post are shortlisted for the written exam, in order of PET-2025 normalised score. Everyone who holds the same normalised score as the last shortlisted candidate, counted up to two decimal places, is shortlisted too. If the exam is held in more than one shift or on more than one day, the scores will be normalised under the rules of the Commission notice dated 22 May 2019.

Post Preference and Document Verification

Candidates have to give their post preferences at the time of document verification. The Commission will try to allot posts as per these preferences, keeping in mind availability, merit, the educational qualification needed for the post and the age limit, and its decision on allotment is final.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The mains exam has one question paper of 100 questions to be answered in two hours. Every question is objective and multiple-choice and carries one mark. A wrong answer costs one-fourth of the marks for that question.

  1. Keep your PET-2025 registration number and scorecard ready, and confirm that you meet the qualification and age rules for the post you want.
  2. Open the UPSSSC website and download the full notification from the Live Advertisement segment on the homepage.
  3. Once the form opens on 3 November 2026, log in with your PET-2025 registration number using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number or email.
  4. Check the personal details that appear automatically from your PET-2025 record, such as name, parents' names, category, date of birth and contact details.
  5. Select every post you are applying for, because a post you do not select will not be considered.
  6. Enter the qualification details for each selected post, including board or university name, passing year, certificate or roll number and certificate issue date.
  7. Review the photo and signature shown from your PET-2025 record, which cannot be changed, and choose Yes or No for any additional qualification.
  8. Read the declaration, tick all the boxes, enter the verification code and click Save and Submit to move to the fee payment.
  9. Pay the Rs. 25 online processing fee by credit card, debit card, internet banking, UPI or SBI e-challan.
  10. Make sure the fee is reconciled by 25 November 2026, or at the latest by 2 December 2026, then download and print your application form.

Fee Payment and Reconciliation

Your form is submitted automatically only after the fee is paid and reconciled. If the payment goes through but no application form appears on screen, the fee has not been reconciled yet. In that case, log in with your registration number, choose Update Your Transaction ID by Double Verification in the Applicant Segment, and click Verify Transaction ID. If the payment failed, a Payment Acknowledgment Receipt is shown instead of the form, and you should repeat the verification step and then use the Application Fee Deposition option.

To pay through SBI e-challan, download the e-challan and pay the fee at any SBI branch, then enter the e-challan details through the same Update Your Transaction ID option so that the fee is reconciled. You can also log in through the Applicant's Dashboard with your PET-2025 registration number to check the status of your application and fee.
