Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
A candidate is eligible for the post of Constable, male or female, if she or he has passed Matriculation and plus two from any institution, school or board situated within Himachal Pradesh. This condition does not apply to Bonafide Himachalis who completed these examinations outside the state.

Pay Scale
Selected candidates, both male and female, will be placed on regular basis in Pay Band Level-3, ranging from Rs 20,200 to Rs 64,000, in the Himachal Pradesh Police Department.
Selection Process
The recruitment process for both male and female Constable posts follows the same four stages.
- Physical Test: Conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Police Department, consisting of the Physical Standard Test (height measurement) and the Physical Efficiency Test.
- Written Test: An offline, objective type multiple choice examination of two hours, conducted by the Commission for candidates who clear the Physical Test.
- Document Verification: Carried out by the Police Department for candidates in the zone of consideration, including the award of marks for NCC certificates.
- Medical Examination: Scheduled and conducted by the Police Department after receiving recommendations from the Commission.
Physical Efficiency Test Standards

Candidates who fail to qualify in any event of the Physical Efficiency Test are disqualified from the remaining events. The outdoor Physical Efficiency Test is videographed for transparency, and a dope test may also be conducted.
Height Marks in the Physical Standard Test
Marks in the Physical Standard Test are awarded only for height, on a scale of 0 to 6 marks, with different thresholds for male and female candidates. Taller candidates within the eligible range score higher, up to a maximum of 6 marks.
Exam Pattern and Marking
The written examination carries 90 marks and consists of 90 objective type multiple choice questions, to be answered in two hours. The question paper is bilingual, in English and Hindi, and the English version is treated as final in case of any discrepancy. Each question offers four answer options along with an option E for candidates who do not wish to attempt it.
Negative marking applies at one fourth, or 0.25 marks, for every wrong answer, for questions with more than one answer marked, and even for questions left entirely blank. The syllabus for the written examination is of plus two standard and is published separately on the Commission website.

NCC Certificate marks are awarded during document verification: 4 marks for an NCC C Certificate, 2 marks for a B Certificate, and 1 mark for an A Certificate. A candidate holding more than one certificate is given marks for only the highest one.

General Rules
- The category claimed by a candidate in the application is treated as final, and any change of category is generally not entertained after submission.
- Persons with Disabilities are not eligible to apply for this examination.
- Candidates already in regular government service must produce a No Objection Certificate from their employer before document verification.
- No request for re-checking or re-evaluation of the written examination answer sheets is entertained under any circumstances.
- Furnishing false information or suppressing factual information in the application can lead to disqualification or termination of service, even after appointment.
- Candidates found guilty of adopting unfair means, impersonation, or misconduct during any stage of the process may be debarred from future examinations for a period of up to 15 years.
