Candidates from the SC, ST and PwBD categories are eligible with 50% or more marks, while candidates from other categories need 55% or more marks in the essential qualification. Rounding off of percentage is not permitted under any circumstances; for example, 54.99% will not be considered as 55%.

Candidates from Government or CPSE organisations must be working in the pay scale specified for the relevant level, or an equivalent scale, for the last 4 years. Candidates from the private sector must meet the specified minimum CTC and should be working in a reputed organisation with a minimum annual turnover of Rs. 2,500 crore, based on the average audited turnover of the three financial years preceding the current year. SC and ST candidates get a relaxation of one year in the total length of experience where the requirement is more than three years. Teaching experience, internships, apprenticeships and pre-qualification experience are not counted towards executive experience, and periods of sabbatical or extraordinary leave will also be excluded.
Age Limit
The upper age limit is 55 years for Chief General Manager, 36 years for Deputy Manager and 32 years for Engineer posts, calculated as on the closing date of the advertisement. Age relaxation for reserved categories is applicable as shown below, wherever posts are reserved for the respective category.

PwBD candidates get the relaxation in upper age limit irrespective of whether the post is reserved, provided the post is identified suitable for persons with benchmark disabilities. Candidates domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir between 1 January 1980 and 31 December 1989 get a 5-year relaxation, and ex-servicemen get age relaxation as per Government of India guidelines. The upper age limit inclusive of all relaxations cannot exceed 55 years. There is no age bar for internal SJVN applicants.

In addition to Basic Pay and IDA, selected candidates will get attractive perquisites and benefits, including allowances at 35% of Basic Pay under the Cafeteria Approach, HRA or company-leased accommodation, Contributory Provident Fund, conveyance reimbursement, leave encashment, performance-related pay, medical facility, gratuity and contributory pension, as per the company's extant rules.
Application Fee
Candidates who are not exempted from payment of application fees need to deposit a non-refundable fee of Rs. 500 plus 18% GST through online mode, which comes to Rs. 590. Selection Process
The selection process for SJVN's Engineer, Deputy Manager and CGM posts consists of the following stages:
- Scrutiny of applications and shortlisting based on the job specifications mentioned in the advertisement.
- SJVN reserves the right to conduct a screening test to restrict the number of candidates called for personal interview, if required. Where held, the screening test is qualifying in nature only, with 50% qualifying marks for UR/EWS/ESM and 40% for other reserved categories, and carries no weightage in the final merit.

OBC (NCL) candidates must produce a latest certificate in the prescribed Government of India format, issued in FY 2026-27 or within the last 6 months. Candidates belonging to the 'creamy layer' within OBC are not entitled to OBC concessions and must indicate their category as 'General'. Persons currently working under Central or State Government or Public Sector Undertakings must produce a No Objection Certificate at the time of interview, failing which they will not be allowed to appear.
