Selection Process and Exam Pattern

Selection to all three posts will be made on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in a written examination held at various centres across the districts of Uttar Pradesh. The date, time and venue of the examination will be communicated to candidates through their e-Admission Certificates.

For the Architectural Assistant examination, the written test consists of two papers: Paper-1 on General Studies and General Hindi, carrying 200 marks over 100 objective questions of 2 marks each, to be completed in 2 hours; and Paper-2 on Architecture, a descriptive paper of 300 marks to be completed in 3 hours. The Estate Manager and Microbiologist examinations also test General Studies along with the relevant subject knowledge, as detailed in the official syllabus annexures.

In the objective type papers, one third (0.33) of the marks assigned to a question is deducted for every wrong answer. If a candidate marks more than one answer to a question, it is treated as wrong and penalised in the same way, while unattempted questions carry no penalty. The minimum qualifying marks are 35 percent for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, and 40 percent for candidates of all other categories. Candidates scoring below these limits will not be considered for the merit or select list.

Candidates must fill the OMR answer sheet using only a black ball point pen, and should not use whitener, blade, pin or rubber on the sheet, as the Commission evaluates OMR sheets strictly on the basis of properly blackened circles.
