Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit (as on 01 January 2026)
- Minimum age: 21 years completed
- Maximum age: 35 years not completed
- SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) of Chhattisgarh: up to 5 years relaxation
- Women candidates: up to 10 years relaxation
- Divyangjan: relaxation as per General Administration Department norms
- Existing permanent/temporary government employees: upper age limit relaxable up to 38 years
- Ex-servicemen: relaxation equal to length of defence service, subject to a maximum of 3 years beyond the upper limit
- In no case shall the age after availing any relaxation exceed 45 years
Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess any one of the following:
- Graduation with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and a one-year B.Ed
- Graduation with at least 45% marks and a one-year B.Ed as per NCTE norms
- Higher Secondary with at least 50% marks and a four-year B.A.Ed / B.Sc-Ed / B.El.Ed
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and a one-year B.Ed (Special Education)
In addition, candidates must have passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the appropriate government as per NCTE guidelines.

For the Agriculture subject, since posting is done in Higher Secondary schools, a pass in B.Ed is mandatory but passing TET is not compulsory.
Reservation
- Reservation for SC, ST and OBC candidates will be as per the Chhattisgarh Public Services (Reservation for SC, ST and Backward Classes) Act, 1994, and instructions issued by the General Administration Department.
- 30 percent of posts are reserved horizontally for local resident women candidates of Chhattisgarh, with preference given to widowed or divorced women within this reservation.
- Posts for Divyangjan are reserved at 7 percent as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
- Reservation for ex-servicemen of Chhattisgarh will apply as per government orders issued from time to time.
Selection Process
- Selection will be made purely on the basis of the written examination conducted by CGSSB.
- The selection list prepared on the basis of the exam result will remain valid for 6 months from the date of its issue.
- A waiting list will also be prepared for each category, containing a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 25 percent of the vacant posts, valid for 9 months from the date of issue.
- Appointments will be made in the order in which candidates' names appear in the selection list, subject to availability of vacancies.
- Selected candidates will be appointed on a 3-year probation period, extendable by up to 1 year if performance is found unsatisfactory.
- Selected candidates in the Divyang category will undergo a benchmark disability and work-capacity assessment by the District Medical Board of their allotted district before being given charge of the post.
- Character verification through police verification will be carried out for selected candidates.
Exam Pattern
- The question paper will contain 100 objective type (multiple choice) questions.
- Each question carries 1 mark, and candidates get 2 hours to attempt the paper.
- Each question has 4 options, out of which candidates must mark one correct answer on the OMR sheet using a black or blue ball-point pen.
- Negative marking is applicable: 1/4 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer or for marking more than one option.
- No marks are awarded or deducted for questions left unattempted.
