The Commission has notified a total of 1,871 vacancies this year across four post categories. The largest share, 1,320 posts, is for Sub-Inspector (GD) spread across five Central Armed Police Forces.

Sub-Inspector (GD) vacancies in the Central Armed Police Forces are distributed force-wise as follows (figures include both male and female candidates):

The Commission has clarified that it does not allocate vacancies state-wise or region-wise for this examination, and selected Sub-Inspectors in the CAPFs are liable to serve anywhere in India.

Application Fee

The application fee for SSC CPO SI CAPF 2026 is Rs. 100. Women candidates, and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Ex-Servicemen eligible for reservation, are exempted from paying the fee. Fee can be paid only through online modes, namely BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Visa, MasterCard, Maestro or RuPay debit card, up to 1 October 2026 (23:00 hrs). Fee once paid is not refunded or adjusted against any other examination.

Candidates who need to correct details in their submitted form can use the Application Form Correction Window from 8 to 10 October 2026. A correction charge of Rs. 200 applies for the first correction and Rs. 500 for a second correction, payable by all candidates regardless of gender or category.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

A candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan holding a valid certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

Educational Qualification

For Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs, candidates need a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university or equivalent; those in their final year can also apply, provided they hold the qualification by the closing date. For Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF, the requirement is a Bachelor's degree in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, or Matriculation along with a three-year diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automobile, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical or Telecommunication Engineering from a recognized institution. Male candidates applying for Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police must additionally hold a valid driving license for a motorcycle and car by the date of the Physical Endurance and Measurement Test; those without a valid license remain eligible for Sub-Inspector posts in the CAPFs only.

Age Limit

The crucial date for calculating age is 1 August 2026. For all posts except Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF, the age limit is 20 to 25 years, meaning a candidate must be born between 2 August 2001 and 1 August 2006. For Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF, the age limit is wider at 18 to 30 years, covering candidates born between 2 August 1996 and 1 August 2008.

Pay Scale

All posts under this notification, Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police, Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs and Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF, carry the same pay scale of Level-6, Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400. The Delhi Police post is classified as Group C, while the CAPF and Fire posts are classified as Group B (Non-Gazetted), Non-Ministerial.

Selection Process

Selection for SSC CPO SI CAPF 2026 runs through four mandatory stages, followed by document verification:

• Paper-I of the Computer Based Examination
• Physical Standard Test and Physical Endurance Test (PST/PET)
• Paper-II of the Computer Based Examination
• Detailed Medical Examination (DME)

Minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I and Paper-II, calculated without bonus marks, are 30 percent for UR candidates, 25 percent for OBC and EWS candidates, and 20 percent for all other categories. Candidates who clear Paper-I are called for PST/PET, and only those who qualify in PST/PET are allowed to appear for Paper-II. PST/PET carries no marks and is purely qualifying in nature; Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PET but must still undergo PST. After Paper-II, qualified candidates go through DME and Document Verification, and post preferences are collected online before the final result is declared. Once exercised, post and force preferences are treated as final and cannot be changed later.

Exam Pattern

Paper-I consists of 100 objective-type questions worth 100 marks, divided into four parts with a sectional timer of 15 minutes each, to be completed within 1 hour.

Paper-II has 160 questions worth 360 marks in total, split into two timed sittings of 1 hour each.

There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer in Paper-I and 0.50 marks for every wrong answer in Paper-II. Candidates holding NCC certificates receive bonus marks on the normalized score of each paper: 5 percent of maximum marks for an NCC C certificate, 3 percent for a B certificate and 2 percent for an A certificate. The Commission has noted that the difficulty level of Paper-II will be higher than that of Paper-I.

Physical Standard Test (PST)

Height and chest requirements vary by post and category, with relaxation available for candidates from hill areas, Scheduled Tribes and the North-Eastern States. For general male candidates, the standard requirement is 170 cm height with a chest of 80 cm unexpanded and 85 cm expanded across most posts, while general female candidates need a height of 157 cm with no minimum chest measurement. Weight must be proportionate to height for all posts. Candidates not meeting the height or chest standards can appeal to the appellate authority present at the PST/PET venue, whose decision is final.

Physical Endurance Test (PET)

PET is qualifying in nature and carries no marks. Ex-Servicemen candidates are not required to undergo PET, though they must still clear PST and the prescribed medical standards.

Medical Standards

Candidates who qualify Paper-II undergo a Detailed Medical Examination conducted by a Medical Officer of the CAPFs or an equivalent Government medical authority. The minimum near vision required is N6 in the better eye and N9 in the worse eye, while minimum distant vision is 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye, without correction from glasses or surgery. Candidates must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint, must have normal colour vision, and must be in good mental and bodily health, free from any condition likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duties. Candidates found unfit in the Detailed Medical Examination can request a Review Medical Examination, generally conducted the next day, whose decision is final.

How to Apply

1. Complete your One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC website at ssc.gov.in. An OTR generated on the old website will not work here, so first-time and returning candidates on the new portal both need to register afresh.
2. Log in with your OTR credentials and open the online application form for the Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and CAPFs Examination 2026, either on the SSC website or through the mySSC mobile app.
3. Capture your live photograph through the application module when prompted, in good light with a plain background and no cap or spectacles, and upload your scanned signature in JPEG format sized between 10 and 20 KB.
4. Fill in your personal, educational and category details carefully, and select your preferred examination centres in order of priority, since centre changes are not allowed later.
5. Pay the application fee of Rs. 100 through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or a Visa, MasterCard, Maestro or RuPay debit card, unless you are exempted as a woman, SC, ST or eligible Ex-Serviceman candidate.

Document Verification is conducted by the concerned force before the final result, usually alongside the medical examination. Candidates should keep the following ready in original along with photocopies:

• Matriculation or Secondary Examination Certificate as proof of date of birth

• Caste or category certificate, where applicable
• Valid driving license for motorcycle and car, for male candidates who prefer Delhi Police

Examination Centres

The Computer Based Examination will be conducted at centres under nine SSC regional offices covering every part of the country: Central Region, Eastern Region, Karnataka-Kerala Region, Madhya Pradesh Region, North Eastern Region, Northern Region, North Western Region, Southern Region and Western Region.
