Eligibility Criteria — SBI Apprentice Recruitment 2026

Educational Qualification (as on 01.04.2026)

  • Graduation from a recognized University / Institute.
  • The degree must be obtained on or before 01.04.2026.
  • Candidates who have undergone Apprenticeship in SBI or any other organization earlier, or who are currently pursuing Apprenticeship Training, are NOT eligible.
  • Candidates who had training or job experience for a period of one year or more after attainment of educational qualifications are also NOT eligible.

Stipend and Benefits — SBI Apprentice 2026

  • Monthly Stipend: Rs. 15,000/- per month during the one-year engagement period.
  • Apprentices are NOT eligible for any other allowances or benefits.
  • This is NOT an employment in the Bank, nor is it contract employment.
  • Candidates engaged as Apprentices will NOT be treated as employees of SBI and will not be entitled to receive any benefits available to regular employees.
  • SBI shall have no obligation to offer regular employment to Apprentices during and/or after the completion of Apprenticeship period.
  • After completion of Apprenticeship period, candidates will be relieved from the respective work area.

Weightage in Junior Associate Recruitment

Apprentices who successfully complete the training in SBI will receive weightage / relaxation in recruitment of Junior Associates as per the Bank's recruitment policy (as amended from time to time). Successful completion means passing of Skill Evaluation Test (Trade Test) and obtaining a joint National Apprenticeship Certificate issued by SBI-NSDC / BFSI-SSC, subject to satisfactory conduct and performance during the entire training period.

Selection Process — SBI Apprentice Examination 2026

Selection for engagement of apprentices is based on:

  • Each section has a separate timing of 15 minutes.
  • Negative Marking: 1/4th of marks assigned for each wrong answer will be deducted.
  • Candidates must score a minimum percentage on aggregate (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates).
  • There are no minimum qualifying marks for individual subjects.
  • The merit list will be drawn State-wise and Category-wise in descending order of aggregate marks.
  • In case of a tie at the cut-off point, candidates will be ranked by age in descending order.
  • Except for General English, the test questions will be set in 13 regional languages in addition to English and Hindi.

Language Test

  • Candidates must be proficient (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding) in one of the specified local languages of the applied state.
  • Conducted after qualifying the online written examination.
  • Candidates who produce 10th or 12th standard mark sheet / certificate showing they studied the opted local language will be exempt from this test.
  • Candidates who fail the language test will NOT be engaged as apprentice.

Medical Examination

  • Engagement of selected apprentices is subject to being declared medically fit as per the Bank's requirements.

How to Apply Online for SBI Apprentice Recruitment 2026

Important Pre-requisite: Before applying, all candidates must mandatorily register on the NAPS portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in. Detailed guidelines on how to register are available at bfsissc.com.

  1. First, visit the NAPS portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and register yourself mandatorily. This step is required before applying on SBI's website.
  2. Visit the official SBI website at sbi.co.in/careers or bank.sbi/careers and open the Online Application Form for 'Engagement of Apprentices in SBI' under Current Openings.
  3. Fill in your personal, educational, and category details. Select one state only for engagement, choose your preferred districts (up to three), and select the opted local language of that state.
  4. Upload scanned copies of your photograph (20–50 KB), signature (10–20 KB), left thumb impression (20–50 KB), and hand-written declaration (50–100 KB) as per specifications in Annexure-I.
  5. Pay the application fee of Rs. 300/- (for General/OBC/EWS candidates) through Debit Card, Credit Card, or Internet Banking. SC/ST/PwBD candidates are exempted.
  6. Submit the application form. Download and save the e-receipt and system-generated application form for future reference. Do NOT send a hard copy to SBI.
  7. Download the call letter and Acquaint Yourself booklet from sbi.co.in/careers tentatively in the month of June 2026 before the exam.

Important Rules and Instructions

  • Candidates can apply for one state only and appear for the examination only once under this engagement.
  • Not more than one application should be submitted. In case of multiple applications, only the last valid completed application will be retained and the fee for others will be forfeited.
  • Candidates who have CIBIL defaults (unpaid loans/credit card dues) are NOT eligible for engagement unless regularized/repaid before the date of offer of engagement.
  • All candidates (except those from Northeastern States where an alternate ID proof will do) must produce an Aadhaar Number before engagement (contract signing).
  • OBC (NCL) certificate must be issued during the period 01.04.2026 to the date of joining.
  • EWS Income and Asset Certificate must be based on gross annual income for financial year 2025-26 and valid for 2026-27.
  • No change of data is allowed after final submission of the online application.
  • Mobile phones, smartwatches, pagers, earphones, or any electronic/communication devices are strictly not allowed in the examination hall.
  • SBI reserves the right to cancel the selection process partly or entirely at any stage.
  • Any legal proceedings can only be instituted in Mumbai courts/tribunals.

Wait List — SBI Apprentice 2026

A State-category wise wait list will be maintained for one year from the date of result of the engagement of apprentices or the next engagement exercise, whichever is earlier. Candidates will be released only once from this waitlist against non-joining, subject to availability of qualified candidates.
