Nationality
Candidates must be a citizen of India, or a citizen of Nepal or Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries. Government of India eligibility certificate is required for candidates from categories (ii) to (v).

Educational Qualification
Candidates must have the required qualification as on the closing date of application (14 June 2026). Those awaiting results must NOT apply.
- Option A: Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI from a recognised institution of NCVT/SCVT in any of the following trades: Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic (Radio and TV), Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature and Coil Winder, Mechanic (Diesel), Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, or Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Mechanic.
- Option A (Alt): Matriculation/SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the trades mentioned above.
- Option B: Matriculation/SSLC plus 3-year Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering (or a combination of these streams) from a recognised institution, in lieu of ITI.
- Note: A Degree in the above engineering disciplines is also acceptable in lieu of a Diploma in Engineering.
Medical Standards — RRB ALP A-1 Category
The post of ALP has the most stringent medical standard — A-1. This post is not suitable for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
- General Fitness: Physically fit in all respects
- Distant Vision: 6/6, 6/6 without glasses (with fogging test — must not accept +2D)
- Near Vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6 without glasses
- Must pass tests for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision, Night Vision, and Mesopic Vision
- LASIK Surgery: Candidates who have undergone LASIK or any other corrective eye surgery are NOT eligible for ALP post
- If a candidate fails the medical examination, no alternative appointment will be offered by Railways
Self-Screening Medical Declaration: A built-in self-screening questionnaire is included in the online application. Candidates must declare conformity with minimum physical and mental fitness standards. A downloadable medical report (Annexure VIIIA and VIIIB) is generated and must be submitted on CBAT day, duly signed by a General Physician and Eye Specialist from any Central/State Government Hospital or Medical College.

How to Apply for RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 (CEN 01/2026)
- Visit the official website of your chosen RRB from the list of 20 RRB websites provided in the notification (e.g., rrbald.gov.in, rrbmumbai.gov.in, rrbchennai.gov.in, etc.).
- Click on the link for CEN No. 01/2026 (ALP Recruitment). Read the detailed notification carefully before applying.
- Create an Account using your valid personal mobile number and email ID. If you already have an account from a previous RRB CEN (2024/2025), use the same credentials. Authenticate your identity using DigiLocker or Aadhaar for a smoother process. Note: Details filled in 'Create an Account' cannot be changed later.
