Registration Fee

Vacancy Details

Out of the 24752 total posts, 24277 posts are in non-scheduled areas of 174 urban local bodies, and 475 posts are reserved for the scheduled areas of 9 urban local bodies, which can only be applied for by local residents of those scheduled areas. Reservation for scheduled areas follows separate eligibility conditions specified in the notification. Jaipur has the highest number of posts at 4811, followed by Kota, Bikaner, and Jodhpur. Reservation and Horizontal Categories

Reservation for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), MBC (Non-Creamy Layer), and EWS candidates will apply as per Rajasthan government rules. Within these, horizontal reservation is provided as follows.

• Women: 30 percent horizontal reservation, applied category-wise, including 8 percent for widows and 2 percent for divorced or separated women within the women's quota
• Persons with disabilities: 4 percent horizontal reservation for benchmark disabilities as defined under the Rajasthan Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2018
• Ex-servicemen: 15 percent reservation as per the Rajasthan Civil Services (Absorption of Ex-Servicemen) Rules, 1988
• Outstanding sportspersons: 2 percent horizontal reservation for candidates who meet the criteria fixed by the Department of Personnel notification dated 21 November 2019

Candidates from the Sahariya Adim Jati of Baran district are eligible for special reservation benefits if they clearly mark this in the relevant column of the application.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

No specific educational qualification has been prescribed for the post of Contractual Safai Karmachari.

Experience Required

Candidates must have at least one year of sanitation work experience in any urban local body of Rajasthan. This experience can be continuous or spread across separate periods, as long as it totals one year. The experience certificate must be issued in the prescribed format by the concerned Chief Municipal Officer or an authorised officer (or, where the candidate worked through a contractor or agency, by the senior sanitation officer or solid waste management officer of the relevant body after document verification), and it must be dated on or after 1 August 2026 and before the last date of application. Certificates issued before this cut-off will not be accepted.

Domicile

Applicants must be original residents (mool nivasi) of Rajasthan.

Nationality

Applicants must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of settling permanently, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia with the intention of permanently settling in India. Candidates other than Indian citizens must produce an eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India.

Age Limit

Applicants must have completed 21 years of age and must not have completed 40 years of age as on 1 January 2027, as per the Rajasthan Contractual Hiring to Civil Posts Rules, 2022.

These age relaxations are not cumulative; a candidate can avail the benefit of only one applicable relaxation provision, whichever gives the maximum benefit.

Monthly Honorarium

Selected candidates will be engaged on a contractual basis and paid a fixed monthly honorarium of Rs. 7410, as notified by the Labour Department on 13 December 2024. This is a contractual engagement and does not carry the pay scale or benefits of a regular government post.

Selection Process

Selection to contractual Safai Karmachari posts will be made through a computerised lottery process developed by the Department of Information Technology and Communication, Government of Rajasthan, following this order of priority for each urban local body:

1. Candidates holding one year of sanitation work experience in the same urban local body are considered first.
2. If posts remain vacant after step one, candidates with one year of sanitation experience from any other urban local body of the same district are considered next.
3. If posts still remain vacant, candidates with one year of sanitation experience from any urban local body anywhere in Rajasthan are considered.

Category-wise and horizontal reservation norms will be applied at each stage of the lottery. Following selection, candidates will need to clear a medical fitness check and police verification before final engagement.

How to Apply

1. Read the detailed advertisement published on the Local Self Government Department website carefully before starting the application.
2. Visit the department portal at LSG Rajasthan or the SSO portal at SSO Rajasthan and log in using your SSO ID.
3. Go to the Citizen Apps (G2C) section, select the Recruitment Portal, and click on Apply Now for the Safai Karmachari post.
4. Complete One Time Registration (OTR) if not already done, entering your category, disability status if applicable, and home state, then pay the OTR fee.

• Marriage registration certificate, wherever applicable, as marriage registration is mandatory for appointment to Rajasthan government service

General Rules and Important Instructions

• A candidate can apply to only one urban local body among the 183 advertised; multiple applications will result in rejection of all applications from that candidate.
• Candidates should not have been dismissed from any government service on disciplinary grounds or declared ineligible for government service.
• A male candidate with more than one living spouse, or a woman who has married a man who already has a living spouse, is not eligible for appointment unless specifically exempted by the government.
• A candidate who accepted dowry at the time of marriage is not eligible for appointment.
• As per the Department of Personnel notification dated 16 March 2023, a candidate having more than two children on or after 1 June 2002 is not eligible, subject to the exceptions listed in the notification.
