Eligibility Criteria
Educational and technical qualification is fixed post-wise by PSSSB based on what each department has asked for, so it varies by post rather than being uniform. All posts additionally require passing Punjabi as a subject at the Matriculation level, under Rule 17 of the Punjab Civil Services (General and Common Conditions of Service) Rules, 1994.

Age Limit
Age will be calculated as on 1 January 2026.
- Minimum age for every category: 18 years
- Maximum age for General category: 37 years
- Maximum age for SC and BC candidates who are residents of Punjab: 42 years
- Maximum age for State and Central government employees: 45 years
- Maximum age for Punjab-resident persons with disabilities: 47 years (10 years relaxation)
- Widows, divorcees and certain other categories of married women get relaxation up to 40 years
- Ex-servicemen who are residents of Punjab get age relaxation as per the Punjab Recruitment of Ex-Servicemen Rules, 1982, based on the length of their military service

The fee, once paid, is not refundable under any circumstances, and no candidate will be granted a fee waiver or exemption.
Selection Process and Exam Pattern
All 14 posts are filled through an Objective Type (Multiple Choice Question) written examination held in two parts.
- Part A is a Matric-level Punjabi language paper. It is qualifying in nature only, and candidates must score at least 50 percent to qualify.
- Part B decides the merit list. Each question carries 1 mark, and one-fourth mark is deducted for every wrong answer.
For Clerk (Legal), Clerk (Accounts) and Clerk (IT) posts, along with Translator, there is an additional Punjabi and English typing test at a speed of 30 words per minute, conducted on computer. The Punjabi typing test uses the Unicode-compliant Raavi font. This typing test is qualifying only, and the common merit list is then prepared from Part B marks of candidates who qualify the typing test.
For Driver, Translator and Field Artist posts, the merit list is prepared directly from Part B marks of the written exam.
If two or more candidates end up with equal marks, the tie is resolved in this order: older date of birth first, then higher percentage in the required educational qualification, and finally higher marks in Matriculation. Once the merit list is ready, shortlisted candidates are called for document verification and counselling, and the number called depends on category-wise vacancies. Candidates applying for Clerk (Legal) and Clerk (IT) posts will be asked to give their department preference at a later stage. Admit cards for the written exam and typing test are issued only through the Board's website.
How to Apply for PSSSB Recruitment 2026
- Visit the official PSSSB website at sssb.punjab.gov.in and click on the Apply Online link for Advertisement No 12 of 2026.
- If you do not already have a login, click Registration and fill in your basic details to generate a User ID, which will be the email address you register with, and a password. Save these for future use.
- Log in with your registered User ID and fill in your personal, educational and other required details completely and correctly, then upload a passport-size photograph or capture a live photo, along with a scanned signature.
- Click Save Draft or Next, then go to Attach Annexure and upload your 10th class certificate, educational qualification certificates and other required documents.
- Click Save Documents, then click Make Payment and pay the application fee online through the payment gateway.
- Click Submit to complete the application. Your filled application form will appear on the screen, so take a printout of it and keep it safe for future reference.
A saved but incomplete draft can be reopened from Menu, then View Status of Application, then View Incomplete Application, and submitted once complete. Once submitted, no correction is allowed at any stage under any circumstances, so review every entry carefully before clicking Submit.

Reservation and Other Important Instructions
- The reservation benefit is available only to residents of Punjab, so candidates must fill their category and category code carefully as it cannot be changed once the form is submitted.
- Women candidates get reservation benefit as per the Punjab Civil Services (Reservation of Posts for Women) Rules, 2020.
- Ex-Servicemen (Self) candidates are considered first; Ex-Servicemen (Dependent) candidates are considered only if no Ex-Servicemen (Self) candidate is available for a post.
- Sportsperson category merit will be decided as per the notification issued by the Department of Sports, Punjab, dated 9 March 2026.
- No TA or DA will be paid to candidates appearing for the written exam, typing test or counselling.
