Eligibility Criteria

Candidates need to meet either of the following two qualification routes to be eligible for the Nursing Officer post.

Route A

A B.Sc (Hons) in Nursing, or a regular course in B.Sc Nursing, or a Post Basic B.Sc Nursing from a recognized University or Institute, along with registration as a Nurse or Nurse and Midwife (RN or RN and RM) with a State Nursing Council.

Route B

A Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery from a recognized Board or Council, registration as a Nurse or Nurse and Midwife with a State Nursing Council, and one year of experience in a minimum fifty bedded hospital acquired after completing the educational qualification.

PGIMER has also clarified that diplomas or degrees obtained through open and distance learning mode will be accepted only if they were recognized for the relevant period in which the candidate acquired the qualification, as per the Ministry of Education notification dated 10 June 2015.

Age Limit

The age limit for the Nursing Officer post is 18 to 35 years, calculated as on the closing date for submission of online applications, that is, 03.10.2026.

No age relaxation is available to reserved category candidates who are applying against an unreserved vacancy. The maximum age of a PwBD candidate, after allowing relaxation, cannot exceed 56 years on the crucial date.

Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be placed in Level-7 of the 7th CPC pay matrix, which corresponds to a pay scale of Rs.44,900 to Rs.1,42,400 per month, along with other allowances admissible to PGIMER employees.

Selection Process

Selection to the post of Nursing Officer will be entirely through a Computer Based Test, since the Government of India has dispensed with interviews for Group B, Non-Gazetted posts.

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT): Candidates who successfully submit their online application will be permitted to appear in the CBT.
  2. Shortlisting: Candidates who clear the minimum qualifying marks will be shortlisted category-wise using the formula of three times the number of advertised posts, plus ties, for further scrutiny.
  3. Scrutiny of Applications: The documents of shortlisted candidates will be checked against the applicable recruitment rules to decide their eligibility.
  4. Provisional Result: A provisional list of selected and waitlisted candidates will be declared, based on merit in the CBT among candidates found eligible.
  5. Document Verification: Provisionally selected and waitlisted candidates will be called for in-person document verification with original certificates.
  6. Final Selection: Candidates whose certificates are found in order will be finally selected purely on the basis of merit in the CBT.

The minimum qualifying marks in the CBT are 40 percent for General and EWS candidates and 35 percent for SC, ST and OBC candidates. Reserved category candidates competing for an unreserved post must secure at least 40 percent marks. PwBD candidates need to meet the qualifying criteria prescribed for their respective caste category.

The Computer Based Test will be conducted in English language only, on an all India basis, comprising objective type multiple choice questions. Each question carries one mark, and there is negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. The syllabus is based on the prescribed educational qualification and professional course relevant to the Nursing Officer post.

  1. Visit the official PGIMER website and open the recruitment link available on the home page.
  2. Complete the online registration by entering the advertisement number, advertisement date, name as per matriculation certificate, date of birth, mobile number and a valid personal email ID.
  3. Log in with the applicant login using the User ID and password sent to your registered email and mobile number.
  4. Fill the application form section by section, covering personal information, qualification details and experience details, saving each section before moving to the next.
  5. Upload a scanned photograph in JPEG format between 50 to 80 KB, taken on or after 1 July 2026, along with scanned copies of certificates from Matric onwards, category certificate and experience certificates as applicable.
  6. Review all entries carefully, since details in the registration form cannot be changed once submitted.
  7. Click submit and complete the application fee payment through net banking, credit card or debit card to finalise the application.

General Rules

  • Candidates may apply for more than one post if they fulfil the eligibility criteria, but the prescribed fee must be paid separately for each application.
  • No offline application or a printout of a downloaded application form will be accepted by PGIMER.
  • Incomplete applications, or applications where the requisite documents have not been uploaded, will be liable for cancellation without further correspondence.
