Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • GDMO: MBBS from a University/Institution recognized by the National Medical Commission (formerly Medical Council of India)
  • Physician (Gen. Medicine): MD/DNB in General Medicine
  • Pediatrics: MD/DNB in Pediatrics, or MBBS with PG Diploma in Child Health
  • Ophthalmology: MD/MS/DNB in Ophthalmology, or MBBS with PG Diploma in Ophthalmology
  • O&G: MD/MS/DNB in O&G, or MBBS with PG Diploma in O&G
  • All qualifications must be from Universities/Institutions recognized and approved in India.

Experience Requirement

  • GDMO: Minimum 2 years of experience/practice after MBBS. Internship training is not counted as experience.
  • Physician (E4 Grade): Minimum 1 year experience/practice after MD/DNB
  • Physician (E3 Grade): Fresh MD/DNB candidates are eligible
  • Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, O&G (E4 Grade): Minimum 1 year experience/practice after MD/MS/DNB
  • Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, O&G (E3 Grade): Fresh MD/MS/DNB, or MBBS with PG Diploma and 2 years post-diploma experience
  • Candidates recruited in E3 grade with MD/DNB/MD/MS qualification will be placed in E4 grade after 1 year of experience.

Age Limit

  • Upper Age Limit: 37 years for all posts
  • Age relaxation for SC/ST candidates: 5 years
  • Age relaxation for OBC candidates: 3 years
  • Age relaxation for PwBD candidates: 10 years
  • Relaxation for Ex-Servicemen as per Govt. guidelines
  • Age will be calculated as on the last date of receipt of online application.

Selection Process

  • NTPC management reserves the right to conduct online screening/shortlisting/selection test or to raise the minimum eligibility standards/criteria as per requirement.
  • For GDMO posts, candidates are required to indicate their choice for test centres at the time of online application.
  • NTPC reserves the right to change the test centres depending upon response/feasibility.
  • The candidate should have sound health. Before joining, candidates will undergo medical examination at any NTPC hospital. The decision will be final and binding. No relaxation in health standards is allowed.

  • Valid Medical Registration Certificate post PG degree
  • Caste/Disability certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD/EWS) as applicable — OBC-NCL certificate should be in central format for FY 2026-27
  • EWS Income and Asset certificate valid for FY 2026-27 (based on income of FY 2025-26)
  • Disability certificate as per latest prescribed central Govt. format from the Swavalamban/UDID portal
  • Post-qualification experience documents in chronological order (Relieving Letter, appointment letter, offer letter, service certificate, 02 pay slips per year, etc.)
