Note: For late applications submitted after 20 May 2026 up to 27 May 2026, a late fee of Rs 3000 is applicable. Educational Qualification

Scientific Officer Biology

Post-Graduation (MSc): Second division in any of the following subjects: Botany, Zoology (Animal Science), Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Forensic Biotechnology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Bioscience, or Forensic Science.

Graduation: Both the following conditions must be met:

  • (a) At least one subject from: Botany, Zoology (Animal Science), Bioscience, Life Science, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or Forensic Biology.
  • (b) At least one subject from: Chemistry or Biochemistry / Forensic Chemistry.

Scientific Officer Chemistry

Post-Graduation (MSc): Second division in Chemistry or Forensic Science.

Graduation: Must include at least one subject from Chemistry, Forensic Chemistry, or Forensic Toxicology.

Scientific Officer Physics

Post-Graduation (MSc): Second division with at least second class in Physics or Forensic Science.

Graduation: Both the following conditions must be met:

  • (a) At least one subject from: Physics, Forensic Physics, or Forensic Ballistics.
  • (b) At least one subject from: Chemistry or Forensic Chemistry.

Employment Registration

  • As per the High Court order dated 08.03.2022, candidates from other states are exempt from employment registration.
  • MP domicile candidates do not need employment registration at the time of applying, but must present their live employment registration certificate by the last date of document submission for the interview.
  • MP resident government and non-government servants on continuous service are exempt from employment registration requirement on submission of relevant proof.

Selection Process

Selection for MPPSC Scientific Officer 2026 is done in two stages:

Stage 1: Written Examination (OMR Based)

  • The written exam is conducted via OMR-based objective type questions.
  • Negative Marking is applicable in the written exam.
  • Candidates must carefully study the exam plan (Syllabus) before appearing.
  • Based on marks obtained in the written exam, candidates up to a maximum of three times the number of advertised vacancies (for each category with equal marks) are shortlisted for interview.
  • The Exam Pattern and Syllabus will be published on the MPPSC website www.mppsc.mp.gov.in in due course.
  • If the number of applicants is less than 500, selection will be based on interview alone.

Stage 2: Interview

  • Total interview marks: 100.
  • Minimum qualifying marks for interview: 41 (Unreserved category), 31 (Reserved category and Divyang).
  • Candidates who are absent from the interview will be treated as ineligible for selection.

Final Selection

Final merit is determined on the combined basis of marks obtained in the written exam and interview. The result will be declared as per the 87% (main part) and 13% (provisional part) division as per State Government guidelines (letter F 07-46/2021/Aa.Pra./Ek dated 29.09.2022). The final selection result is subject to the final court order in SLP 8764/2023 and WP 5596/2024 related to OBC reservation.

Exam Centers

The competitive examination will be conducted at exam centers located in Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Gwalior. Exam center allotment is based on priority and availability at the time of online application. Once allotted, a request for change of exam center will not be accepted.

Question Paper Objection Process

  • After the exam, provisional answer keys are published on www.mppsc.mp.gov.in.
  • Objections can be submitted online within 5 days of the provisional answer key publication.
  • Objection fee: Rs. 150/- per question (non-refundable) + Rs. 40/- portal charge (per session, separately payable).
  • All objections are reviewed by a subject expert committee. The committee's decision is final.
  • If an objection is found valid, the benefit of correction is extended to all candidates and the objection fee is not refunded.

Important Rules and Conditions

  • All applications must be submitted online only. Applications sent by any other means will not be accepted.
  • Candidates must ensure they meet all eligibility conditions by the last date of application (20 May 2026). Qualifications acquired after this date will not be considered.
  • Candidates must fill the application form with accurate information. Any wrong/false information will lead to cancellation of candidature at any stage.
  • Only one application is allowed per candidate. Multiple applications will lead to disqualification from all exams.
  • The age, category, and gender as filled in the online application form will be considered for final results. No changes in category/gender/date of birth will be accepted after the correction window closes.
  • Appearing for interview does not mean the candidate has been found eligible. Eligibility is verified during document verification before appointment.
  • Candidates currently in government service must submit an undertaking that they have informed their department head about this application.
  • A candidate with more than two living children born on or after 26 January 2001 is not eligible for appointment.
  • Candidates appointed must serve a probation period of two years.
  • For the candidate's name, no correction is allowed through the correction window.

Disability Certificate Requirements (Divyang Candidates)

Divyang candidates must attach the latest valid disability certificate issued by the District Medical Board formed under notification F-8-1-Satrah-MEDI-2 dated 09.01.2009. Only certificates issued through the UDID portal at http://www.swavlambancard.gov.in on or after 01.06.2021 are valid. Manually issued certificates after this date will not be accepted. The disability certificate must show 40% or more permanent disability to avail reservation and other benefits.

How to Apply Online for MPPSC Scientific Officer 2026

  3. Register yourself on the MP Online portal if you are a new user and log in with your credentials.
  4. Fill in the online application form with accurate personal, educational, and other required details.
  5. Upload your latest passport-size photograph and signature scan as per the specified dimensions and format.
  6. Prepare your scanned photograph (latest color passport size) and signature file before filling the form. Ensure that your photo and signature are clearly visible in the form.
  7. Pay the application fee online through credit card, debit card, internet banking, or through an authorized MP Online kiosk.
  8. After submitting the form, a popup window will display your basic details including name, parents' names, date of birth, category, and gender. If any error is found, click Cancel and correct the form before resubmitting.
  9. After clicking OK, your application will be successfully registered (in Unpaid status). Click on "Proceed for Payment" to complete fee payment. After successful payment, the status will show "Payment Done".
  10. Take a printout of the successfully submitted application form and keep it for future reference and all correspondence with MPPSC.

Correction Window

Corrections in the online application form can be made from 26 April 2026 to 22 May 2026 (till 12 midnight). A correction fee of Rs. 50/- per correction is applicable. Note that the candidate's name cannot be changed through the correction window. For those who applied with a late fee, corrections can be made up to 28 October 2026 with a correction fee of Rs. 50/- per correction.

Candidates are not required to upload documents with the online application. However, at the time of interview, the following self-attested copies must be submitted:

  • Attendance sheet (1 original copy)
  • Personal details sheet (1 original + 5 photocopy sets)
  • Self-certification form (3 original copies)
  • Declaration regarding no disqualification in exam/interview (1 original)
  • High School marksheet
  • Higher Secondary marksheet
  • All year/semester marksheets and degree certificates of all qualifying examinations
  • MP domicile resident proof (with Goseal, register number, and date)
